Dean Winchester had lots of memories. Memories of his mom, memories of his brother, and dreams of what his life could have been if they were just alive. But no, it was just him, dad, and Baby. And a bunch of dirty motels in between.
Ben learned to never need or ask for anything, but there was just one thing he always wanted: to be loved. To be cared for and to be loved by an actual family. But he was just a slave, trapped into the realm of monsters and hunters because Ben was a monster, a psychic, and after getting a vision of the yellow-eyed demon, was now placed into the hands of the Winchesters.

“Sammy,” his father breathes, the word trembling with horror yet still somehow managing to travel to the other side of the farmhouse, where it burrows deep into Sam’s brain and heart. “Your… your eyes.”
Sam jerks back in surprise, glancing around until he catches a glimpse of a metal hook, hanging right by his head. He peers at it, trying to make out his warped reflection in the dull meta—
No.
Oh, God, no.
Sam raises a trembling hand to his face, trailing it towards the pools of inky darkness where his eyes should be, shifting and swirling with depth like a nest of shadows. The sight of it is so—so monstrous, so wrong, and Sam can’t even recognise himself in it.
This can’t—this can’t be real.
As he stares at the monster wearing his face, not even daring to blink, the darkness leaks out of his eyes, leaving their normal hazel. But even in the absence of that otherworldly blackness, he can still see it, the monster, lurking behind a young face and innocent eyes.
Sam's powers manifest earlier. John doesn't take too kindly to it.

“Your brother has yet again done something with drastic cosmic consequences.” Sam squeezed his eyes shut, unwilling to see the hatred and disappointment on Dean’s face. “Samuel.” Death called and he couldn’t have rejected the request if he’d tried. “You would give up all that you have worked so hard to accomplish, all that you are, and live a subservient life instead?” Sam swallowed thickly, blinking rapidly as he tried to figure out how to say what he needed to say.“If it means none of my mistakes happen, all of those lives saved,” Sam couldn’t stop his eyes from darting to Dean once but was taken aback by the stricken look on his face. “Of course I would.” He turned back to Death who was gazing at him like a bug under a microscope. He guessed that’s what he really was to something as powerful as Death. The horseman nodded once as he stood.

AU of 14x13. Instead of rushing to get John back to his own time, they decide to let him stay a little longer. Time won't completely collapse with one night with their dad, so what harm can him staying do?
For Sam, a lot of harm. John believes something about his sons and he's determined to set all the blame at his youngest's feet, revealing painful secrets that Sam would've preferred to stay hidden, things he feared anyone finding out, things John feels are wrong.
Too bad for John that Mary and Dean don't feel the same way and are more than ready to back Sam.
NOT WINCEST in the SLIGHTEST, but John sure thinks so.

That was never a good thing to hear over the phone at 2:48 in the morning, and the fact that it was Dean on the other end only made it worse. Of course, Jody wasn't going to turn him away. She couldn't imagine what kind of trouble he had managed to get into this time--though, knowing the Winchesters, it was most likely supernatural in nature--and why Dean was saying "I" instead of "we". She sure as hell wasn't prepared for what showed up on her doorstep four hours later.
Dean looked exhausted: dark circles under lack-luster eyes and several days' worth of beard over a tense jaw and grim mouth. He was alone except for the small, sleeping child he held bundled in his arms.
"Dean? Where is Sam?"
Dean, looking more lost than she'd ever seen him look, glanced down at the child in his arms; and he smiled even as tears filled his eyes.

As cubs, they were inseparable. Emotionally, and sometimes physically, too. The relationship between Sam and Dean was beyond anything John and Mary could have hoped for.
As they hit puberty, however, things will change. Omegas have the choice to continue their education in an all-omega school, pursuing their studies without Alphas pursuing them. Something John, who has a position of prestige in the government, looks forward to.
Separation doesn't go easy on the boys, who must learn to navigate a world of rising political tension and family tragedy.
When riots take over the country, with rogue Alphas siding with an extremist section of the government to restore Alpha supremacy, no matter where they go, omegas are not safe anymore. Especially virgin ones, who are often seen as trophies.
It's the perfect scenario for the two types of Alphas that stand out: predators, who exert their physical advantage and take everything they want, including and especially, unclaimed omegas; protectors, who fight to reestablish order and make sure omegas aren't abused.
After drifting apart, Sam doesn't know what kind of Alpha Dean has become.
