They’re too important to the war effort. But he has the contacts of a hundred Human criminals memorized forwards and backward. He’ll be okay.

In the end, it's frighteningly easy to sneak aboard The Angel of Death. It probably wouldn’t be if Tommy didn’t have the teachers and family he does, so he’ll give them a pass this time. Once he’s integrated, though, he’s going to give their security a massive overhaul because he is a little insulted at how effortlessly he got in.

The ship's walls were cold under his fingertips, the air: just a bit too crisp. It's surreal, Tommy thinks, to watch his home slip away from his fingers and turn into ash under his feet. He's living every human's dream: going far into outer-space, finding new life and a whole new solar system. But all he wants to do is go home.

Knowing everything in the universe was kind of Phil's whole job. He works for the Counsel, after all. Phil and his crew-mates have studied every inch of the known world. Well, almost every inch. The Terrian Solar System is the only section he hasn't quite seen yet, since it's protected by the Counsel on account of being so new.
Now, imagine his surprise when, after getting a distress call from his crew-mates' home planet, he finds a feral Terrian hitchhiking on his ship, so far away from its home.
Armed with some very limited knowledge of Terrians, Philza and his crew have to figure out how to not get killed by the non-sentient Terrian, and, hopefully, keep it alive long enough for the Counsel.
But, plans can change.
