The beginnings of a plan took shape in Steve’s mind, as clear and simple as a tactical frontal assault. He’d prove to Bucky that this was it, he was staying: Steve was retired from the fighting game, Steve wasn’t going to let anything keep pulling them apart. Maybe then when Steve finally told him he loved him, Bucky would believe him.
All things considered, Steve thought he’d handled the whole Thanos killing half the universe thing and the ensuing bitter, desperate quest to defeat him pretty well. Sacrificing his super soldier serum to use one of the Infinity Stones wasn't a problem either, not when it meant getting back the half of the universe they'd lost, and especially not when it meant getting Bucky back. But retirement and finally confessing his feelings for Bucky? Those were proving to be more challenging.

It’s quite obvious that Tony knows he is Spider-Man, but decided not to acknowledge it; decided to keep the secret going. For what reason, Peter doesn’t know. Maybe Tony thinks he can use the information in his favor, or maybe he just doesn’t want Peter to freak out. Either way, it serves Peter just fine, because Tony tries so hard to keep up his oblivious act that he never prods too hard or looks too deep.

It’s all hands on deck at the Time Variance Authority when Steve Rogers sets out to return the Infinity Stones after the events of Endgame. Everyone’s taking bets on just how much damage to the timeline Steve’s going to cause as he careens through past events. Steve, on the other hand, is working out his grief about the loss of Natasha and Tony, dealing with his sense of being a man out of time, and aching to find his way home to rest. Problem is, Steve’s looking in the wrong directions and maybe, just maybe, getting mad and lashing out at Fate will finally make him realize he already has what he’s looking for right beside him. Well, that and a friendly nudge from a guy who might be just as blind as he is.
This is a major fix-it for Endgame with Steve/Bucky as the main pairing, a hint/potential Mobius/Loki, and me pretty much tossing out the canon, saving everyone, and giving them a happy ending. Written for Marvel Big Bang 2021
