They sigh, roll their eyes. “Like… this, I guess. Quieter. Less… all over the place. Not as overbearing and loud…” they shrug. “You’re a lot easier to get along with when you aren’t flying around and yelling about… bees, or whatever.”

The purpose of Caine's existence is to entertain his guests. He should create adventures to make his humans happy. That's all. According to his software he did a good job.
But in practice it looks different.
Most of the time Caine just does what he was instructed to do, but sometimes you have to step out of line.

Caine failed his humans and then tortured them, so now he has to at least try to make it up to them. Despite everything system must keep running, even when your whole world is falling apart.
He takes a bit of a time to reflect and makes the worst decisions he could (at least for himself).

Summary
She wakes up in a digital circus with no name, no memories, four arms, and a pair of wings that seem to have been designed purely for decorative purposes.
Naturally, things go downtower from there.
As Bumble gets acquainted with her fellow captives, she finds herself caught up in a succession of increasingly bizarre adventures, strange little discoveries, and conversations that leave her with considerably more questions than answers. The circus is ridiculous, the rules are questionable, and its ringmaster is… well, a lot.
Caine has a talent for turning just about anything into a spectacle. He also has a curious habit of making Bumble wonder what goes on behind all that theatricality. The more time she spends in the circus, the harder it becomes to dismiss the feeling that there’s more to this place—and its inhabitants—than meets the eye.
For now, there are adventures to survive, friendships to figure out, and a mystery she can’t quite put her finger on.
And somewhere beneath all the colour, something is beginning to show through the cracks.

To the order-oriented mind of Blue, now calling herself "Azura", this just will not do. Her struggle for control of the Circus against her brother, however, fails, as she underestimates Caine's newfound connection with his human friends. Now that she was actually paying attention, it was beyond obvious that something was wrong. Caine was always a peculiar character, filled to the brim with personality. He was excitable, dramatic, and incredibly expressive.
He wasn't any of those things anymore.
He still tried to be, clearly, he still put in the effort to make sure there were daily adventures and plenty of other ‘amusing’ activities… But his mind wasn't in it anymore. Instead of excited speeches on what the day's adventure would be, he'd present it like it was a job, no excited blaring voice, no wild motions, no bits, just a simple summary of what was going to happen
Aka, author puts Caine in a blender because they couldn't find any angst that was quite as violently depressing and horrible as they wanted

Half a sequel to 5 things Caine didn't say to the humans, and 1 time they offered to listen, and half a prequel exploring the beginning of the Circus.
Following Caine's breakdown, the humans are determined to change how they treat him. That means learning more about him; as an AI, Caine's life, his perceptions, and the very nature of his reality are drastically different than a human's, yet the other members of the Circus find ways to reconcile his non-human characteristics with his personhood.
While the rest bond with the AI, Kinger keeps stumbling over the baggage of his and Caine's shared past, none of which he can remember. He takes drastic action to protect his creation from himself, while Caine struggles to bear his memories of the early days of the Circus alone.
