Between Sirius Black's escape from Azkaban, a renewed effort at recruiting more minions, and avoiding the suspiciously friendly pack of Aurors sent to defend Hogwarts, Harry's second school year is shaping up to be even more action-packed than his first. But with the help of his friends, Harry is quite sure that he'll be able to make it through another year relatively unscathed.
Oh, and then there's the impending dark resurrection of the high-pitched voice in his head, of course. But that can probably wait until his homework is done.

The man in question blinked, looking equally baffled by the question. From the corner of his eye, Merlin could see Arthur pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Uh…I actually don’t know.”
“But you’re Emrys,” Merlin reminded the imposter with a sigh “You don’t remember siring any dragons?”
“I said it was an off day!” The man complained, trying to cross his arms despite being upside down. Merlin took a long breath. Lancelot had already walked away, but that did nothing to hide his howling laughter.

He asked. Arthur finally glanced up from the papers in his hand to look at him, pausing his steps altogether. Merlin waited.
"...Merlin, you fell over trying to put boots on." He said. Merlin grimaced, looking down at his feet.
"I hadn't realized you were supposed to wear them all the time." He muttered, uncertain what this had to do with the fact he could murder everyone within a ten mile radius. Arthur sighed. "And those are bold words from someone who can't dress himself!" He added indignantly. Another sigh. Humans did that a lot as it turned out.
"Merlin, that's your job."
"And I've taught you several times. It isn't that hard."
"No, I - " Arthur started and closed his eyes. "I don't have time for this."

"A second chance,“ Death said.
Harry stopped in front of a bench and turned to look at the being. "A second chance at what?"
"Life."
Harry laughed bitterly. "Because that has worked out so great the first time?"
Death tilted its head. "You've changed," it stated.
"Life does that to you," Harry said and his mind felt clearer than ever, "Or should I say the last seven years. I never really left this place, have I? I lived a life feeling not quite dead and not alive either," he spat.

The being's smirk widened as it leaned closer.

Years after the war, Harry Potter lives an apathetic life. When Death offers him a second chance he takes it.
Accompanied by the being, Harry travels back to the summer before Sirius dies. Inside his younger body and the memories of an older self, Harry realizes that being connected to Death may have twisted his morals a little more than expected.
Seeking to make up for the boredom of past years, Harry isn't above carving his own space between two sides to even out the playing field.

Tom Riddle isn’t particularly happy about working at a small, dingy shop for magical artifacts, no matter how interesting those artifacts are. He’s even less happy when an insufferable stranger sets up the most obnoxious flower shop right across the street.
What follows would be a romantic comedy, if it weren’t for politics.
