Buck went and joined the team, forcibly ignoring the way Diaz's smile had his eyes shining or the way his hair fell perfectly over his eyes. Or the extra long canines could almost be fangs, longer than even Buck's when they were retracted.

“Yes,” Maddie replied quick enough that Buck wouldn’t be able to hear the lie in there, and in years to come if you were to ask Maddie about this moment she’d probably lie again and tell you she doesn’t know why she did what she did.
But in reality she knows. She knows all too well why she lied. She wants her brother to be happy and with his memories he’s got too much at stake to try and get that happiness so she’s taking matters into her own hands for better or for worse.

He felt a shameful, electric thrill at having been so completely dominated, so helpless under Will’s literal thumb. He wanted to see it again. He needed to see that look of absolute control on Will’s face."
