Tom had been plagued for weeks by this awful self-loathing malaise, made constantly aware of Shiv’s displeasure in their marriage, her apparently successful efforts to allay it with external sources. Watching Greg touch himself was a fucked-up replacement for the pleasure he couldn’t get himself, for the pleasure he couldn’t give Shiv.
So he perched himself on the edge of Greg’s desk, inhaled Greg’s soft little sounds and his quiet little gasps, absorbed Greg’s pleasure as if it were at once his own pleasure and his punishment.
in which Tom goes a little too far with the hypermasculine dominance plays, and Greg is into it, actually.

The crisp refreshing bubbles of stardate vintage 2369 clearly going straight to his head, with this in mind, Quark marches off down the hallway to catch Odo's runabout.
The kiss that comes next is something that has happened before -- in a myriad of ways, in a variety of contexts, with far too many excuses for why it never means a thing.

Chell dreams of flying, most nights.
There’s never a destination, nor any explanation for how he’d gotten up there in the first place. It’s just him, zooming through the air, clouds and blue sky stretching out as far as the eye can see. Sometimes there’s sound — snatches of voices he doesn’t know, jargon he doesn’t understand — but most of the time it’s quiet, and he relishes in the feeling of his stomach swooping, adrenaline thrumming through his veins, all of his nerve endings alight with the sensation of freedom.
He doesn’t know why. Technically, he shouldn’t be having dreams at all: the Collective created tabs several years ago that provide every Kree man, woman, and child with a restful night’s sleep, but he never takes them. They make his brain feel fuzzy, like it doesn’t belong to him. And no matter what his doctors tell him, he can’t shake the feeling that these dreams have something to do with his past — the past that he hasn’t been able to remember since the accident. So he holds onto the dreams, hoarding them (and the elation they bring) like jewels, hard and sharp beneath his skin.
Maybe someday he’ll understand what they mean.

The blue of Naruto's eyes is brighter than ever from this angle. Kiba spent years thinking that he was the equivalent of an abandoned campfire, warm but nearly burnt out, welcoming but alone. It pisses him off that an offhanded comment from Shikamaru of all people pointed him to the truth of it, but he will never forget that particular truth.
Naruto is no campfire.
Naruto is the sun, bright and burning in the middle of a clear sky. People need him to survive - Kiba needs him, if not in a practical sense, and he constantly reaches towards that warmth. If it burns him, he doesn't know how to change that. Even in this abandoned alleyway, bits and pieces of sunshine falling through the treetop canopy above, Kiba wants and wants and wants.

Dixon begins to peel the label off of his beer bottle, needing something to do with his hands, and nodded, “Yeah, I know. I just- wanted to, I guess,” he shrugs. Focuses on the shredded paper piling up on the sticky counter rather than the young man next to him, “besides, I definitely owed you at least a drink.”
He looks over to Welby at that and sees when the kid realizes what he means. He snorts with a shake of his head, “Oh really? Then where’s my damn straw? I remember that was a pretty big deal at the time.”
