Summary
Luke was planning to drown in sorrow after Grogu leaves for his father, in a way known only to a Jedi. By being reckless enough. It was meant to be a small exploration of an old Force Sect somewhere in a backwater planet. He maybe shouldn't have touched a creepy-looking holocron. R-2's beeps where the only thing he heard before the Force left his body, being sucked invariably by the artifact.
Anakin never really listened to anyone; his master would probably write such instances in a thousand-page holobook if he were being honest. So when he saw a suspiciously glowing, maybe a Sith holocron, nothing was enough to stop him from touching it; he could hear Obi-Wan's voice somewhere in his head telling him why it was such a bad idea. Rex's panicked shouts and the trooper's steps were the last thing he registered before darkness claimed him.
Alternatively, Luke saves his family and the rest of the universe with his sheer cuteness and charming personality.

But then, Leia realized as she looked up at his face on the screen, she had never seen Palpatine like this. The Emperor had forgone that dark cloak that shielded his face from view. Instead his visage was plain and unmarred. He looked…ordinary. He looked like a regular man. Old. Not feeble, persay, but…vulnerable. Yet strong and confident. If Leia didn’t know any better, she’d say he looked almost kind.
But she did know better.
And as Palpatine spoke, the lack of Imperial presence, the strangeness of this place, the words Vader had spoken before her brother had vanished—everything came together at once, understanding dawning on Leia in an instant.
On the screen, Palpatine said, “With the Jedi behind us, we will defeat the Separatist Army once and for all, and bring peace to our Republic!”The crowd cheered, the applause ringing in Leia’s ears like a drumbeat.
Vader had sent them to the past.

Optimus’s optics cycled wide, and without almost any actual thought, he blurted out, “I would never betray the autobots!”
Ultra Magnus’s face did not change, but his optics glinted. “I am aware, Optimus Prime. That is exactly why I am asking you to do just that.”
A pause.

A new Autobot-Decepticon war rages on. Both sides cling to what territory they have and struggle to achieve any real progress.
For the soldiers on the ground, the battles seem never ending. Victory is short lived and often followed almost immediately by new defeat. For the mechs at the top, the choices are never easy. Sacrifices and risky plays are the name of the game in this eternal war.
The Autobots may have numbers, but there is a traitor in their midst who is proving difficult to uproot.
And then Ultra Magnus makes the decision to give the Autobots their own peek behind enemy lines. By sending Optimus Prime to become a Decepticon.
