Vash's children are whipsmart, unfairly fuckin' cute, and absolute terrors. Vash would do anything to protect them, and now Wolfwood thinks he would too. Yes, he knows deep down this is the wide road to unspeakable tragedy, but he wants it as much as he ever has anything, this little piece of the world, Vash's kids, his kids, something like hope .
Knives, now that he knows about them, now that he's found out just how treacherous a secret his brother can keep, will stop at nothing to get his independents, his children back where they belong, at his side. And his brother. This world is for them, after all. Them and their children.
Vash sees him in their eyes, their faces. In the way one laughs, the way one talks, the way one rages. He can lose them all in heartbeat, he knows. He knows he will. He can only try and protect them, he can only fail. They are everything good in this world of his, and everything to be afraid of.
Vash is hiding a secret aboard SEEDS 3, and no one is normal about it. (except when they are)

The things that make Vash who he is are so disparate and contradictory and so, so human that Wolfwood forgets on occasion that he isn’t: it’s only when Vash doesn’t eat for days and seems none the worse for it, or when he plucks the pin feathers that sprout on occasion along his hairline that Wolfwood is reminded that, despite all their hours together, a yawning chasm still stretches between what he knows and what there is yet to discover about the Humanoid Typhoon.
The gauge of what is normal and what isn’t for Vash uses metrics that Wolfwood cannot even begin to attempt to define, but about a month into their sojourn to JuLai, some time between run-down rest stops and no-name towns, Wolfwood begins to notice that something about Vash seems… off .- Language:

Summary
A canon-divergent Plantwood fix-it of sorts, set after Wolfwood brings Vash to July City.
Instead of dunking him straight in the breeding tank, Knives takes Vash into his custody in an attempt to convince his little brother into cooperating willingly with his schemes. A few weeks go by without any real progress, just circular arguments between the brothers that go nowhere, and Knives is getting both frustrated and desperate.
It doesn't help that being in such close proximity to Vash for the first time since they were children is wearing him down in other ways.
It also doesn't help that Wolfwood has decided to take matters into his own hands. (Or does it? Yes, it does.)

They probably will never move again. The bones are in the wrong places. The nerves and veins are in disarray. His feathers have been falling out, one by one, covering the floor of the cell in shades of dark, dead gray.
But Vash knows he deserves this for his part in everything that has happened.
So when he’s freed, when he gets his own room, when Luida asks him if there’s anything they can do to make up for those months of keeping him locked away…
Vash gives her a broken smile and asks, “Could you help me get rid of something?”
