Summary
When Dean and Castiel were children, they swore that they would both be dragonriders. They’d stand together on the sands for the Impression ceremony. They'd live in adjacent rooms in the Rookery, where all the baby dragons grew up. They’d fly together in the same Wing, taking down the demons that spilled from the Hellgates—the same demons that had killed Dean’s mother. And when Sam got old enough, he’d join them.
Dean believed Castiel when Castiel said he could hear Novak, his mother’s dragon, talking—even though that was impossible. And Castiel didn’t care that Winchester, Dean’s family dragon, had a bad wing.
It wasn't much of a plan, but it was their plan. It should have been so simple.
But falling hopelessly in love with his best friend had never been part of Castiel's plan.

Summary
Something in Bodie, California is luring truckers to their deaths and Dean’s on his way to take it out. It’s the first time Bobby’s given him a case and, with Sam at Stanford and his dad off chasing demons, he's finally hunting monsters on his own. When an accidental encounter puts an as-of-yet-unknown monster in the passenger seat of his car, Dean decides to ice him, taking his dad's old adage to heart: a monster is always a monster. Unfortunately, Dean can’t seem to figure out what kind of monster "Castiel" is and he certainly can’t shake him.

Summary
When Dean wakes up in his town's jailcell with a disoriented Cas, he happily roles with it. Sure, he knows he'll be the laughing stock of the town for a few days -- what deputy locks himself in his own jailhouse? -- but as long as Cas is there, things are fine.
Until he realizes his memory is unusually fuzzy. Until Cas starts acting strange and morose. Until he starts having brief flashes of Cas being taken from him by an inky black entity. Until Cas starts talking about plot holes and tropes.
Until he wakes up by a fire in the woods, on a quests to fight a dragon --no wait, in an ambulance, late for his shift as a surgeon-- no wait-
Dean's just trying to figure out why he and Cas keep waking up in different genres and why Cas seems so distant, while Sam works with Eileen, Gabriel, and a few others to do the same on the other side of a laptop.

Summary
“I can bring him back.” She lets her fingertip trace over the shape of his knuckles, the veins on the back of his hand. “And I owe you now—because you set me free. Your prayer set me free. From Jack. From Chuck. From being locked inside someone and silenced. And now I can make things right.”
“I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what to do to thank you.” Dean exhales, lets himself feel something other than grief, for the first time since that night in the Bunker. “I’ll give you anything.”
“There’s nothing to thank me for.” Amara leans forward, hair falling over her shoulder. “I’m just going to make things the way they should be.”
“What are you talking about?” Out here, in the middle of nowhere, with the Darkness, with Destruction Incarnate, Dean finally feels something close to faith, hope.

Summary
It almost feels like, if Dean went to sleep right now, he could get it back. Like he would slip right back into the dream, and it would pick up where it left off. But Dean doesn’t even want to, now that he can see that world for what it is: a cheap hallucination, poking at all his weaknesses, going right for the soft underbelly Dean never shows.
All that work. All that work Dean had done over the past few weeks, trying to numb himself and act like he’d forgotten about it. And now it feels like the Empty took Cas all of five minutes ago, all over again.
Or,
A post-15x19, forty one year-old Dean gets a taste of what twenty seven year-old Dean went through in 2x20, “What Is and What Should Never Be,” and sees how the shape of his own happiness has changed. Then life goes on, same as it ever was—except for the dreams he starts having at all hours of the day, and a familiar voice on the phone that's starting to sound a little too real.

Chuck is depowered, Jack is the new god, and the world is free. Dean and Sam get into the Impala and chase down the miles on an endless highway, and their story is finally, finally their own to follow. At least, that's what Dean tells himself. But the diners and motels and painted interstate lines are blurring together and the smallest details keep catching at his brain like tiny fishhooks and he can't quite shake the feeling that not everything is exactly as it should be.

Summary
Julian had always longed for adventure. More than that, he’d longed for a desperate adventure, the kind where all the odds were stacked against you, and every step was a struggle, and every breath a victory. He probably would have come to Cardassia even if he hadn’t missed Garak. He hoped that was true. He couldn’t touch it, really, couldn’t scrape the dust away from his thoughts enough to name it, but Garak was different.

Summary
Due to a transporter accident, Garak is switched with his counterpart from another universe. A universe where the wormhole doesn't exist, no one has ever heard the word "Dominion", and Garak was never exiled from Cardassia. Instead, he's a Legate. And happily married to one Mr. Julian Garak.
Suffice to say, the Alternate Garak takes the transition about as well as he can. The supposedly straight as an arrow Dr. Julian Bashir...not so much.

Summary
Quark has a competition going to see who can snag the most romantic-looking picture of Garak and Bashir together. It’s so popular that practically everyone on DS9 is getting in on the action. Bashir finds out, and convinces Garak to help him take the winning photo – cue fake-relationship flirtation to get in the mood, a late-night tailor-shop rendezvous to pick the right outfits, then the staging of a seductive, intimate moment in a quiet hallway... only to wonder if the relationship they’re portraying in their picture is exactly what they want in reality. Or even what they already have.
