Summary

Trapped in layers of spiritual manipulation and quiet despair, Vessel submits to a marriage he never wanted, believing numb obedience is his only escape.

The first thing he saw was eyes—blue, deep as a stormy ocean, staring at him with an expression he couldn’t quite read. The guy leaning over him had sharp features, high cheekbones, and short, tousled dark hair. His hand gripped III’s thigh, which, he now realized, was slung over the guy’s shoulder.
This wasn’t what he expected to see after falling asleep in his room following a lousy day.

There’s a ghost haunting the 141 common room. At least, Soap is about 80% sure there is, which is, in fairness, realistically about as sure as anyone could reasonably be about spooks haunting their workplace. He’s not stupid, he knows no one else is going to believe him if he brings it up. The scorn if he suddenly starts harping on about ghosties and ghoulies.
None of that negates the fact that there definitely is one though. Probably.
