Seongje talks. About the fight with Eunjang’s, about Baekjin no longer being Choi’s golden boy. About Humin. Baekjin just closes his eyes and grits his teeth. Bears it all like he bears the pain. Thinks that he would rather have died than be this weak, and maybe that's it's his ultimate punishment. To live through every humiliating, agonizing second of it.
“You want help with your bandages?” Seongje asks eventually. “Say please, I might even be nice about it.”
“Fuck you.”
It comes out soft. Hoarse. Weak. He knows Seongje will do whatever he wants anyway.
Seongje smirks.
Baekjin closes his eyes. Tries to breathe through the aching in his ribs and the burning in his gut.
A moment later, something thumps on the coffee table. Baekjin looks.
The first-aid kit.
Seongje is kneeling, sleeves rolled up.
“Forgot my sexy nurse costume,” he says. “I’ll bring it next time.”
Baekjin doesn’t reply.
He just sits still and lets Seongje start with the cut above his eyebrow. The antiseptic stings. The bandage is tight.
Next time, Baekjin thinks.

"Get up." Baekjin said, even though he could just go to his bedroom and lock himself inside and not have to deal with Seongje anymore. He decided to indulge him. After all, staying at home all day bored him.
Seongje grinned up at him lazily. "No." He made himself more comfortable. Baekjin caught a peek of his collarbone as his hoodie shifted, pale and a tiny mole on the side.
Baekjin exhaled through his nose. "This is my apartment. Act like a guest."
"You can sit on my lap if you want, but I'm not getting up."
"Tempting." Baekjin mustered all sarcasm into the word, taking a seat across him in the armchair.

He gasped, curling in on himself, his body a knot of pain and regret.
“But I didn’t know how to ask. I didn’t know how to be soft. I didn’t know how to be loved.”
He remembered that little boy—the one hiding in a corner, fists clenched, heart begging. The one who flinched every time someone raised their voice. The one who learned that the only way to not be hurt was to hurt first.
His voice cracked.
“No one ever stayed for me.”
Another sob. Sharp. Gasping.
“I just wanted someone to stay. Just once.”

His voice is hollow, eyes watery when he asks. ‘’Is that all I ever was? Did you seriously never care about how I felt? A weapon?”
The words cut between them like a blade.
Baekjin feels like he’s bleeding— being cut open by the watery eyes that beg him to respond. How did he let them become this? His mouth opens, then closes. His eyes flicker with something— guilt, maybe. He exhales sharply through his nose and then schools his face into a mask of indifference.
‘’Yes.’’
OR
Baekjin ends up at Baku's doorstep after the Union loses to Eunjang. Baku can't turn him away.
