He was suddenly distracted as a wave of rankled emotions made themselves known, the positivity he'd just felt drying up in an instant as Error jerked, face scrunching as he subconsciously moved towards where Dream was standing. The movement had more of Dream's palm coming into contact with his chin, glitches springing up again at the increased contact buzzing angrily against the exposed bone.
Dream pushed harder, willing the magic to soothe, to let him in. To let him make it all better.
And then Error shifted, letting out an unmistakable moan as he rolled slightly and hips bucked into nothing.
Dream goes for a positivity boost and gets more than he bargained for.

Ink had a terrible memory.
It had long since become a fact of life, an easy joke to be made to get everyone laughing. It couldn’t be helped or changed, so why not get a little fun out of it where he could?
So Ink adapted himself to the klutzy silly guy persona. It wasn’t disingenuous by any means and it served him well. He was able to slide any weirdness he might have off his back because “Oh, that’s just our Ink!”
No one gave him worrying glances anymore. No one paid attention. It was best this way.
The problem with the jester persona is it didn’t account for moments like this.

"Get these off of me," Nightmare spat, his voice a mixture of rage and desperation. Bound tightly, he thrashed and twisted, trying to free himself from the unforgiving chains and cuffs. His struggles were futile, only serving to highlight his helplessness.
Sol watched, a dark smile playing on his mouth. There was something undeniably captivating about seeing Nightmare like this, all his power stripped away, leaving only raw vulnerability. Sol could lose himself in this sight for days.
But he knew that was cruel. An attentive lover should show mercy, shouldn't he?
He drifted closer, his gaze locked on the bright gold cuffs that gleamed against Nightmare's obsidian corruption. Like a predator closing in on its captured prey, he moved with deliberate slowness, savouring every second. "I couldn't possibly," he purred, his voice low and tantalizing. "You'll leave if I release you, Darling."
Caught, Nightmare has to accept Sol's tender mercies.

But above all, he needed respite. Reprieve from him—that winged menace who pursued him so relentlessly, weaving his presence through every corner of Nightmare’s existence like a stubborn breed of weeds blooming within a carefully curated garden. The Guardian had grown weary of waking to the detritus of the other's so-called affections—feathers gleaming on tangled sheets, gifts of gilded opulence scattered like relics of an unwanted ritual. And the offerings...half-dead prey left at his door, as though the predator fancied himself some grotesque approximation of a devoted lover.
It was a pantomime of courtship, insufferably clumsy and wholly devoid of grace.
He hated it all. Hated the clinging sweetness of it. Hated the resemblance of his brother whom he despised. Hated this creature of obsessive devotion.
And so, he resolved to end it—if only for a moment. A trade, a fleeting concession, performed with all the precision of a blade slicing clean through bone.
Nightmare strikes a deal, using himself as payment. More is taken than agreed upon, naturally.

He couldn't quell the shiver that coursed through him at those possessive words. The part of him that craved affirmation and yearned to be wanted ached with every syllable. "And I entrusted you with my little brother. Entrusted you with watching over my only kin. You should be expressing gratitude to your King," he said sweetly.
Cross recognized it as a cue, understanding that Nightmare anticipated a display of appreciation. It was a struggle not to slip into old habits, to resist when his mind swam and the weight of negativity pressed down upon him so relentlessly.
"I own you, Cross," Nightmare declared with a sinister satisfaction, his voice a venomous melody that echoed in the dim dungeon. "Every fiber of your being is mine to command. You're tethered to me, bound by the threads of your own inadequacy."
