“Oh, fuck no. You’re on your own, asshole,” Jason shoved Tim away from him, but Tim didn’t falter much. He stood back as Jason kept walking away and stared at him until Jason finally looked back. “Are you coming?”
Tim crossed his arms and grumbled, “You’re a terrible person.” He walked to catch up to him though, joining Jason’s side. He wasn’t as lonely when he was with Jason. He liked that.

Tim plays piano because he’s lonely, he becomes great at it. Jason plays violin and needs an accompanist, together the two become the best at Gotham High. They’re music brothers, and ready to accompany each other again.
Jason dies before they get that chance.
Jason comes back and breaks the fingers he used to listen play beautiful melodies.
Despite this, they’ll learn to be brothers again.

Tim needs comfort so bad he goes to the local prostitutes. Jason, pre-Robin, is the best hugger and the youngest one there.
A nine year old Tim gets his first hug for 80$ and loves it so much he goes back biweekly.
When Tim turns 10 and his parents miss his birthday again, he considers running away and living with Jason, someone he views as a brother and might be the only one who loves him.
When Jason is adopted by Bruce and recognizes Tim at a gala, he ignores him. Leaving Tim wondering if it was all a lie.

If I had a nickel for each time I read (sobbed to) a Batman fic where one of the Batfam members goes to the past and meets a family member that’s dead in the present, later realizing that as much as they desperately miss said family member, they almost miss the people and relationships they have in the present because of that loss more, I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but weird it happened twice right?
Bruce and Damian go to the past and meet new parents Martha and Thomas Wayne and an Alfred with hair.
Bruce loves his parents, and he misses them more than words can describe, but he also misses his children. He misses his Alfred. He really, really misses Alfred.
