So, he wasn’t expecting anything to happen for his birthday, and was just hoping that March would pass by fast so that he wouldn’t be asked by Constance again even though she always did during the first week, and Ocean would try and corner him until, eventually, he’d rally her up enough to the point she’d huff and walk away, forgetting about her questions and his birthday.
[Sometimes it hurt when he realized that she just gave up so quickly like he just wasn’t worth the extra fight. But, yeah, it’s not like he wanted to celebrate anyway even if she got it out of him.]

Noel has dealt with all that his whole life. The only thing that's kept it in check is writing with Monique Gibeau. If his life isn't tragic, hers has to be. Constance wished she could say that everything was okay after they were brought back, but she'd have to lie to do that. And it's not just because the accident left her with trauma. She had trauma before the accident. It was traumatizing just to have depression as a kid. It's traumatizing to have so many self-esteem issues and be so neglected by the people around. It's traumatizing to pull one of your closest friends somewhere private to talk them down and ask them why.
Noel has always had dark thoughts and fantasies; it was a huge part of who he was. That didn't mean those thoughts couldn't go to far. That didn't mean they didn't upset even him sometimes. That didn't mean that they didn't scare his friends. One would think that the impact of being brought back from such a tragic and painful death would put things into perspective.
But these two? They're left with more questions than answers, more anxiety than inner peace, and more issues to work out. At least they were also left with one another.Bookmarked by Professional_Introvert
