Jessica doesn’t say anything for a startled second, and all that comes across the line is her breathing and rain and shouts and car horns from outside. “I dunno, sometimes I think he could manage.”
“...You wouldn’t if you saw him right now, Jessica.” Luke says quietly, glancing toward the bedroom.
Another beat of static. “Geez, you’re sure being dismal. It’s that serious, huh?” Luke opens his mouth to reply, but Jessica goes on, under her breath. “You’re not his biggest fan anyway---”

Summary
MY PURPOSE , now complete, is to archive the epic series the Mellon Chronicles for readers to continue to enjoy. I do not claim authorship or ownership of any work in the Mellon Chronicles - that belongs to Cassia and Siobhan, and to Tolkien.
As readers may be aware, the original site at which the Chronicles were archived (aragorn-legolas.5u.com) has ceased to exist. I retrieved the all the stories from the online web archive Wayback Machine but I am unsure how much longer they will be available there either. So I am planning on re-posting them all here, in an effort to prevent them from disappearing from the internet altogether. There may be other sites where the works are also archived, but I could not find any from Googling.
In the series, you can find all of the stories in chronological order (that is to say, the order in which they appear in their entirety, not the order in which they were written).
If you appreciate being able to read the Mellon Chronicles here and, like me, do not want them to be lost, please comment and let me know. Thank you to everyone who has already done so, it makes me very happy to know that I'm not the only person who still remembers and enjoys these stories :)

“Not really my thing,” Dave told him, unfolding the blanket and tossing it over him easily, “I guess… it just seems like you need someone to take care of you. Sorry if that sounds weird.”
“You’re much sexier than the orderlies in rehab, you’ve got that going for you,” Klaus smothered a yawn behind his hand and gave him a sultry, lopsided grin that made Dave melt on the spot, “Thanks, Dave, I mean it.”

Summary
The news reported the worst winter in 50 years, just as it had every year for 4 years, so you would forgive Klaus for scoffing at it and finding a shop doorway to hunker down in. However, when the weather really does get bad, an opening sends him back to the Academy, to the ghosts that haunt his childhood memories, and to Luther. His 'big' brother surprises him and instead Klaus finds a sanctuary, and happiness and maybe they can re-kindle, or even begin anew, their sibling bond.
(Sibling bonding between Klaus and Luther after Number Four gets a little worse for wear in freezing temperatures. There's heart to hearts and hugs).
