There’s something about watching Steve and Eddie that makes his chest ache, just a little bit. Something that feels like it’s just out of reach, like if he could just jump an inch higher he could grasp it and know what it is, have a name for it, figure out what feels like it’s missing with Max. He never felt like something was missing with Max before. She was perfect. She is perfect! Like, sure, not actually perfect, because nobody’s actually perfect, but she’s perfect for him just like he hopes he’s perfect for her, and they’re perfect together.

Summary
Mickey promised he’d come back to Ian once he got out of prison.
While Mickey still didn’t let Ian touch the glass in between them at the prison no-contact visitation, he made clear that Ian could expect Mickey to find him. That Mickey would call, would show up, no need to worry.
But the date goes by when Mickey's supposed to be released, and Mickey doesn’t call. Doesn’t show up at the Gallagher house, or anywhere around Southside. Ian calls the prison, knows Mickey’s been let out, but where he went they don’t know.
Then, Ian catches sight of Mickey out on the street, near the Kash and Grab of all things, and any self-pity is calcified into heavy guilt in Ian’s gut, because, “Holy fuck, Mickey.”

Mickey comes back from prison with a ring of vicious bruises around his neck and an edge to him Ian doesn't recognize.
But he came back. He came back, and now it's time for Ian to meet him halfway.

Has been, ever since he found out that his first attempt to beat the gay out of Mickey didn’t take. This time it’s a crusade, Mickey can’t make himself out-of-sight, out-of-mind.
He’s been hiding out at the Gallaghers for a few days. Hasn’t left once, not since he was hurried inside by Ian, palm on the small of his back, his other hand wrapped under Mickey’s bicep hauling him through the door. They've been protecting him ever since.
But Mickey can't stay forever.

Patrick goes down with a yell as Mickey’s bullet finds his knee. Mickey screams as Ellen’s bullet finds him, but it’s not unexpected. He knew exactly what would happen the minute he started moving. It was just a matter of turning his body so she wouldn’t hit him anywhere fatal. The shot lodges into the flesh below his right collarbone. It hurts like a motherfucker.

Mark is inside him when he asks, “what was it that Perez showed you at the crime scene last week?”
There’s something about the lightheartedness of his tone that causes Peter to bark out a laugh that seems far too hostile for what it is. It sounds almost like a threat.
“We should make that a rule,” Peter says, chest heaving from exertion. Mark pushes into him harshly, fingers bruising his waist, puncturing a low groan from Peter’s throat, “no talking about work when we fuck.”
Mark laughs at that, and his laugh is softer than Peter’s, but somehow sounds far more lecherous. When Mark bites into the meat of his shoulder, he’s almost disappointed when no blood is drawn.

Lawrence was so busy focusing on the coffee quickly staining into his coat that it took a couple of seconds for the pain to kick in, his pain smarting as boiling hot liquid soaked into the fabric, burning into his skin a little. It wasn’t too bad- more of an ache than a true burn. He stared at it, his brain lagging for a moment.

Summary
He listens carefully, wondering if maybe it’s just another thing his frightened imagination has conjured up, but then he hears it again.
There’s someone downstairs.
Adam has visions of a dark figure in a pig mask jumping out from the shadows to knock him out, and drag them both off to some godforsaken torture chamber to face another sick test.
His heart is pounding as he reaches out to lay a hand on the sleeping body next to him.
Lawrence is solid and warm, and he grumbles a little as Adam gently shakes him.
“Lawrence,” he whispers, his ears straining to hear any further noise. “Lawrence, wake up.”
Lawrence shifts a little.
Another soft thump from downstairs.
“Lawrence.” Adam tries to keep the panic from his voice. “Lawrence, fuck.”
Lawrence blinks his eyes open, yawning. “Sweetheart?”
“I think there’s someone downstairs.”
OR
Adam hears noises in the middle of the night, and thinks that Jigsaw has come for them again.

About a year after their escape, Adam makes an announcement that changes everything.
They’re having their weekly catch up at a coffee shop near the hospital after Lawrence’s usual Wednesday night shift, when Adam nudges Lawrence’s calf under the table with a grin.
“I’ve got some news,” he says excitedly. “I’ve met someone.”
Lawrence freezes.
He feels his stomach drop, and he’s not quite sure why.
“I don’t know if it’s gonna be anything serious,” Adam says shyly with a shrug as he stirs sugar into his coffee. “But it feels good to finally get back out there, you know? I was starting to think I’d never have a love life again after all that shit we went through. But Daniel just moved into my building, and we got talking and really hit it off. We’re going out on Saturday.”
Lawrence blinks. He doesn’t know why his throat feels so dry or why his heart is pounding in his chest.
“Hello?” Adam says, waving a hand in front of the older man’s face when he gets no response. “Doctor Gordon? Anyone in there?”
Lawrence clears his throat. “Uh, yeah, sorry. That’s great, Adam, I’m happy for you.”
And that’s when Lawrence realises.
He’s jealous.
