“You mind a bit of music, Day?” He called, brushing his hands together as he turned his attention back to the boy; who took Exer by surprise because he kinda looked like he was about to fully climb into his closet.
“Nah! You’re good!” David yelled back with a thumb raised.
“Jeez, you’re not trying to get away from me over there are you?”
“No! It’s not my fault your closet’s a mess- Aha!” A navy blue sweater was grabbed from the closet-abyss and David held it up in triumph. “I saw you wear this one last week and I’ve wanted to stea- borrow! Borrow it, ever since.”

Summary
“Dad, what was that?” He blurted sharply.
His father’s hand twitched at his side and he peered over the table and toward the window facing the street. “I-I have no idea.”
Exer wordlessly let his gaze follow, his stomach already tightening itself into knots. There were more noises; the rumble of feet slapping against the ground, words of precaution being hurled between people and car doors slamming shut.
The curtains were drawn but they could just about make out vague movements. Silhouettes of what looked like a person moving very slowly, bent over at the waist and stiffly trudging forward.
They were grunting. Neck jolting as they eventually got closer to the side of the house and out of view from the window.

Summary
“Uh..hi Exer.”
“Yeah. Hi. One second.” Exer grumbled half-abstently, frowning at what might’ve been his 3rd rummage through his left pocket with no trace of his money.
He really needed a new wallet.
Though his frantic searching was cut short, as his brain finally caught up to him he realised that the cashier had just used his first name. Not only that, but they had spoken in a painfully familiar voice.
With wide eyes, Exer paused and stumbled to find any sensical words. “J-Jackson..? What- what are you doing here man?”

Summary
Despite these longings, at that moment, there was nowhere else Jackson wished to be than at home.
But, as always, life had a different plan and he was only one turn away from the exit when a sudden noise snapped him out of his sleepiness.
Jackson was abruptly stopped in his tracks by the sound of rapid hiccuping escaping the janitor's closet, the door ever so slightly ajar. The sound alone was enough to send alarm bells blaring through his mind, but the sight of muddy footprints only fed into his cautious intrigue.
A very tired and dread filled part of him wanted to keep walking, get through those doors and let today be just that. Today, a closed door, nothing else to think about. But the sniffles that followed were too small and muffled to ignore, clearly carefully hidden by a concealing hand.

Summary
There wasn’t much that could really take Exer by surprise these days. When you have literal magic seeping through your bones, there is very little that can be considered out of the ordinary. Especially when you yourself are out of the ordinary, it turns even the strangest of instances into the norm.
But as he realised the back doors were still wide open, Exer heard something that he would never in a million years have suspected.
Singing.

"What was all of this about, David? You could’ve gotten seriously sick! Or, been hurt, pal.”
“I know... I know! I’m sorry.” David blurted out, his voice catching as he struggled to hide his dumb, out of control emotions. He scrubbed his hand furiously across his eyes, as if trying to stop the tears through sheer force. “I just really missed my mom. It’s been so long since I’ve last seen her and I-“
“You what?” Harry asked, voice as soft and thorough as wool, genuinely wanting to understand. There was not a single trace of the blood-thirsty wolf he had grown used to, hiding and lurking behind its cuddly disguise.

Summary
Just as Loki was about to voice his suspicion, a high-pitched yap and a tiny thud emanated from the box.
What on earth?
“Umm..what did you do…?” Loki’s sentence hung in the air, his voice laced with curiosity and a hint of concern.
There was only a sheepish smile sent his way in response.
He was almost convinced that Mobius had properly lost his mind. Which was a concern considering that, on most occasions, he was the more calm and
collective of the two.Look, Loki was fully aware of how difficult things had been for Mobius. Ever since his two timelines merged together, leaving his brain to become a mush of two completely contrasting lives, things haven’t been easy. And it was to be expected. No one could ever prepare anyone for that kind of unsettlement.

Summary
It was no secret that William Miller hated broken things. He couldn’t stand their very existence so he made it his mission to restore them. If he couldn’t do that, he would rid himself of them, throw it all in the garbage so it could be forgotten to the world. To William.
David thought it may be the only thing he was certain of when it came to his father. It was just so painfully evident in life. His marriage was broken, he couldn’t fix it, so he threw it away.
Doesn’t matter that he was the one to have broken it in the first place.

Exer hummed, he really did think that they were lovely. But there was another individual here, equally as lovely, and he was desperate to find him.
“Ah, as much as I hate to cut this short. Have any of you guys seen David anywhere? Or Brenda maybe?”
The girl on Karen’s left raised a hand to her chin, clearly trying to recall if she had seen them amongst the sea of familiar faces.
“Hmm.. can’t say I have. Sorry king.” She lamented and Exer could only sigh at that.
“Any of you?”
The other two shook their heads in unison, shooting him an apologetic look.

It happened as soon as she arrived.
It felt like a cruel joke in that sense, how little time there was for her to even process what was about to go down. Not a single fleeting second that she could take, hold in her palm and use to prevent the horror that unfolded in front of her.

“You seem peaceful.”
“What?” Tyler’s form wobbled and he treaded the water to steady himself, spinning around to face the words that seemed too gentle in the usual manic voice it belonged to.
“You just looked peaceful. Didn’t know it was possible for someone so grumpy.”
And Tyler could only scoff at that, glaring deadpan at the boy across from him.

Summary
It was plain to see that something was terribly wrong with David. Vampires were supposed to lack empathy when it came to their victims. They were designed to give into the starving desperation that warped them into nothing more than hungry vipers, blood sniffing killers with little regard for their prey.
But he had never experienced that mindless trance. Not with the bunny and not with the various other animals he had tried to drain over the years. The pangs of shame and remorse would always snake their way into his conscience, marking him as unworthy whilst he bawled over the defenceless.
David was a defective vampire and it will be his downfall.

Summary
Being in the 9th grade now and having done a whole season of football, Exer was kind of excited to get back into it.
Not that he particularly enjoyed playing.
He had only really joined because Mr. Miller was adamant that Day was a part of the team, and Exer was never going to let his best friend take such a big step on his own. Oh no, he was going to be right by his side.~
Exer and David navigate the first game of a new football season. Exer realises some harrowing truths along the way.
