On the night that Arthur learns of Merlin’s magic, a witchfinder is brought to Camelot. Fearing for his life and his chances of escape from the castle, Merlin turns to his last option. To travel through Nimheu’s Mirror, an indestructible artefact left behind when Nimheu fled Camelot at the start of the purge, said to have taken sorcerers away from the fear of the pyre, never to be seen again. On the other side, Merlin does not quite find the safe haven he was expecting. He is back in Camelot. But not his Camelot. An older Camelot, a harsher Camelot, with an older and harsher King to rule her. He cannot go back, he can only go on. But how? And what will his own Camelot do without him?

Summary

Summary
The man was beautiful. Hair as gold as dawn sunlight, eyes like the endless blue depths of a midsummer afternoon. His face was a marble angel’s, the lines of brow and cheek and jaw almost too mathematically perfect. Every good sculptor always knew to put in a flaw. His was in his front teeth, just a little too large, and it made Merlin dig his fingernails into his palms. He was lithe, muscular, dressed in black. Half-dressed - his jerkin was unbuttoned, his shirt open nearly to his navel, and he was missing a sock. His hair had the raked-through look of a man in crisis. His smile was dazzling and mad.
“This,” he said, spreading his hands, “is the magnificent - nay, the opulent court of the Crown Prince of Camelot!”
And then, very pleasantly - “Gaius, what the fuck is this?”
OR - When Merlin goes to find Gaius, he's told that he's left Camelot. Tracing his would-be mentor, Merlin finds himself at a tumbledown castle on the edge of a hill. There are chickens, radishes, a knight who'd much rather focus on his squash and a strange voice calling in the night. And a secret hidden in the heart of Castle Perilous. The secret behind the most important rule: don't bleed.

Summary
“I wouldn’t touch the Major Arcana.” Arthur startled, nearly dropping the cards. He whirled around to the voice. “They get twitchy.”
An ornamental crystal ball fell onto the floor behind him, shattering into millions of tiny pieces.
Behind him was a man, probably near Arthur’s age. He registered the wide, bright eyes, pale skin, and dark hair. Arthur hadn’t heard him approach. Where did he come from?
“The—” Arthur’s eyes jumped back to the magician card, “Major Arcana?”
That sounded sort of... magicky
“Yes, yes, they get so full of themselves.” The man’s lips twitched, and Arthur was inexplicably drawn to the hint of his grin.
Or, a lot can happen when you take cover under a random shop's awning. Mostly, Arthur just wants to figure out why 'The Magician' card is always his future.

Merlin and Arthur encounter a group of rogue Druids who seem to have targeted Arthur, forcing Merlin to take action to protect the King. Unfortunately Merlin’s magic has unexpected results and things don’t play out quite the way Merlin expects them to. Arthur, meanwhile, steps into a role that goes against everything he is, and sticking with it might just prove to be the most challenging thing he’s ever done.
