Summary
Dennis finds himself at a benefit dinner, wearing a busted suit, while the DJ is playing the worst remixes of early 2000's music. Everyone from his hospital is either shaking ass or drinking like it's their last night on earth, with the exception of his boss, Robby, who in a moment of sober spontaneity, asks his subordinate to dance with him. What follows is a tense night of will they/won't they while trying to maintain composure and professionalism in front of the entire medical community of Pittsburgh.

Ch. 2
His hair’s in a bun this time, low and loose at the nape of his neck, mostly it seems just to keep it out of his eyes while he’s bending over the gameboard and the geeky little figurines that cover it. The long sleeves of his shirt are rolled up to his elbows, and Steve’s eyes track the familiar scratches and scars that litter Eddie’s skin there for longer than they probably should. The game is in full swing — not that Steve has any earthly clue what’s happening in it — and Eddie’s softly grinning ear-to-ear as the kids all bicker over what their next move should be. He looks — He looks happy, even if Steve knows he’s gotta still be in pain and a little foggy from a minor dose of pills. He looks the happiest that Steve has ever seen him.
There’s this feeling in the pit of Steve's gut then. One that is, regrettably, all too familiar to him.

Removal of the maimed feathers to allow growth of healthy ones. Otherwise, they're left to fall out alone." He tilted his head towards the nightstand. "As you see."
Dean stared at him. "So… that's why I can't help?" he said slowly. "'Cause I can't, y'know… see 'em? Or touch 'em?"
"Yes," Cas said, slightly too quickly, and Dean snorted.
"You're still a shitty liar, Cas," he informed him. "What ain't you tellin' me?"

Summary
Perhaps Steve was ill. There was no reason for this sort of fuss – he hardly knew the guy, and Eddie hadn’t exactly been the most forthcoming when he had visited him in the hospital. He had quipped, sure, pain-hazed and slurring, had smirked and winked and thrust his arms about, but he hadn’t really talked. He’d deflected – classic, really – and Steve hadn’t meddled, hadn’t done anything about the sleepless bruises under his eyes or paper-thinness of his skin, or the way he had sat in his hospital bed coiled, ready to jump and run.
Because Steve didn’t know Eddie. And Eddie didn’t know Steve. Which was why he was surprised when, on a quiet, drizzly Tuesday morning at The Enigma Pig, the walkie-talkie on his hip crackled to life.
(In a moment of need, Eddie radios Steve for help.)

And Eddie, well, Eddie laughed. A short gasp of a laugh, like it had surprised him on the way out. Steve’s eyes widened for a moment, and then a firm hand was clapping down onto his shoulder with enough force to shake him slightly. Eddie’s palm was wide enough to nearly encompass the width of it, and his fingers dug into the meat of Steve’s trap muscle. There was the slightest bite of cool metal from where his rings landed on Steve’s shoulder, but above all there was a warmth that radiated off of the man. The heat of blood rushing through his veins; something real, and whole just under the surface.
Something wonderfully, terribly alive.
