The first time the change happened Merlin was only 10 summers old.
It had felt like he tripped, falling to his knees suddenly and without warning. He thought the pain of skinning them was the worst of it, and for a few moments that was true.
“Merlin?” Hunith called after him, “You okay, love?”
Merlin couldn’t even focus on the ground as his fingers shook against the dirt, “I don’t know, mum!” Pain crackled along his back, it had lanced up every individual bone and struck at the back of his skull.~~
Once a month Merlin is beset by a transformation. He can only describe is as monsterous.
His hopes for a cure are wearing thin, but still he does his best to keep his nature hidden as he naviagtes his life in Camelot at Arthur's side.

Summary
Iroh shifted on his heels, approaching the lone tree he had come to once a year beforehand to honor the life of his son. But, this evening was far different. It pained him that he would be doing this, for this is not how things should have happened. With another slow exhale through his nostrils, Iroh shook himself from his thoughts as he stopped at the base of the tree, which's branches danced above his head joyously. A smile curled his lips faintly as he watched leaves twirl downwards before he lowered his gaze. Finally, Iroh nestled his basket down upon the yellowing grass before he sank to his knees. He reached out shaky hands, brushing his roughened hands over the familiar rocks.
Iroh reached over to dig through the basket he had brought with himself, taking the contents out to place them out before him. He placed the incense down first before reluctantly placing the ink painted drawing he had made himself. The edges of the parchment shivered faintly with each brushing fingers of the breeze, almost giving it life as if it were breathing. Iroh chewed on his bottom lip as he felt his hands fall limply to his lap, meeting the young gaze of the painting that smiled joyously up at him.

Summary
[Time passes oddly. Between one second and the next, Sokka has the Fire Lord pinned to the wall with his hands around the bastard’s throat. Golden eyes (one gold eye, his mind whispers) widen in shock.
“Sokka?” he chokes out. And then he smiles.
What the fuck?
“Sokka, I—”
Sokka slams his head against the wall, once, twice, and the smile wipes off his face. Good.
“What,” Sokka bites out, “have you done to my sister?”]
Or:
An injury leaves Sokka with amnesia. His last memory is of the failed invasion, of leaving his father behind in enemy territory on the Day of Black Sun. Of hopelessness. Rage.
But then he wakes up, and the war is over. Suddenly, he must come to terms with the fact that years have passed, and that he's somehow the Southern Water Tribe Ambassador to the Fire Nation. He is also supposedly friends with banished-Prince-turned-Fire-Lord Zuko, of all people. Close friends.

Sokka’s gotten a lot of mileage out of joking that Katara is the people doctor, and he’s just the teddy bear doctor. But it’s actually pretty skillful, meticulous work, and rewarding to know how much his careful efforts bring comfort to the owners of well-loved or injured stuffed toys.

When Auror Potter is anonymously cursed with silence by being forced to hide his own voice inside his mind, there's unfortunately only one person in the country with the qualifications to fix it: Certified and Licensed Healer Legilimens, Draco Malfoy, specialist in Mind Curses and Afflictions. It's obviously a terrible idea, a disaster waiting to happen, but Draco's never been able to back down from a challenge... especially from Potter.
Features fuzzy cartoon slippers, devious house elves, 90s music, and lots—LOTS—of memories. Ron is annoyingly hot, Hermione sees right through you, Harry is a powerful idiot, and Draco is a reclusive masochist that would buy an entire city if it would make a kid happy. (And Pansy is "5'2, I wanna dance with you, and I'm sophisticated fun.")
