Summary
Pete and Tom have spent the last thirty years navigating their relationship in an ever changing world- through the highs and lows; deployments and leaves. But now, as Pete is to lead a suicide mission in the heart of enemy territory, he has to choose a wingman- Hangman or Rooster. Reconciliation with Bradley seems impossible, no matter what he does, and Tom believes the boy will get him killed. Left with no other option, Hangman is chosen as Dagger Two.
Though he delivers the Navy a successful mission, he also delivers himself onto a minefield of chronic pain, politics and a relationship on the brink of collapse. With the help of friends and family, Tom and Pete both must figure out what's important in life, and what sacrifices have to made to achieve it, all before there's nothing left to loose.

Summary
In 1969, during the Apollo 11 mission astronauts discover a previously unknown comet. Scientists determine that the comet will return to the Solar System and will directly collide with Earth thirty years later. Following this discovery world governments begin heavily investing in their space programs to avert the threat. In the US they start the the preparation of astronauts that would participate in the mission to intercept the comet, with the best Air Force and Navy pilots being selected for the training.
In 1986 Tom "Iceman" Kazansky and Pete "Maverick" Mitchell meet at the elite Navy Fighter Weapons School and become rivals, knowing that graduating on top of the class equals to an invitation to the NASA selection program and the chance to be one of the astronauts to be sent to stop the comet. Even though Tom takes the trophy, they both get selected and begin the training for the space mission. They get close to each other during their time at the Space Center in Houston and eventually they get married. Weeks before the launch Tom falls sick and he is removed from the mission. Tom promises Pete that he'll wait for him and Pete leaves for the adventure that's planned to take 8 years - but fate decides otherwise.

Edward is a Five, a caste that sits right at the poverty line and can only work in the artist and musician line of work. This wouldn't be a problem if his mom wasn't so sick, and in desperate need of real medicine; Real medicine that neither he nor Alphonse can afford.
Then there's the Selection, an 'equalizer of the caste system', as it collects 36 candidates of males and females to fight over the hand of Roy Mustang, the prince of Amestris. The winner becomes royalty, in other words, a One. Edward wants no part in the prince's harem, even if it might serve a chance to let him finally afford the medicine Trisha needs, and he's determine to save enough money on his own. Ed could untie knots in the fifth and sixth dimensions -- blindfolded. He could convince the military he fell through a rabbit-hole, and he could even shut down a Drachman invasion (with a little help), but he can't seem to avoid dating Roy Mustang (and maybe is kind of okay with that). But here's hoping they can collar a General trying to trigger a three-way war, and that they can stop him before he destroys the world.
Making himself walk instead of run took every ounce of composure he had, especially when he got far enough to see the city blanketed in a strange layer of dust and dark thunderclouds. The weather had been clear for miles around. Those clouds had the smack of weather alchemy about them.
He had to find his brother.

Summary
Ed’s back in Amestris after a very long vacation. It seems a little different from how he left it, and he’s really not sure how he feels about all these changes. The Amestris he knew used to be a center of learning and prosperity and innovation. Now? Censorship, food shortages, and a military government causing more problems than it solves. It definitely isn’t the homecoming Ed envisioned.
Actually, he knows exactly how he feels about the changes: they fucking suck.
Roy Mustang, State Alchemist, seems to be the only one in the government who’s trying to change things. His interest in Ed’s unusual alchemical abilities has Ed wondering if he and Roy might be able to fix what’s rotten in Amestris. He'll never join the State Alchemy program to do it, because Ed’s sworn never getting involved in politics again. He’s done leaving swathes of bloodstained sand in his wake.
Still, Roy and Amestris's plight draws Ed in. When things go from bad to worse, placing Roy within range of the firing squad, Ed has to wonder if sometimes, promises aren’t meant to be kept.
