Grandpa was dead.
It happened a week after the vampires had been killed. Max had been stopped. Star and Laddie were long gone, off on their next big adventure together. Grandpa had gotten the house fixed, thanks to some very talented neighbors that owed him favors. Sam and the Frogs felt vindicated about erasing the vampire threat, and were attached at the hip when possible. Lucy didn’t mention said vampire threat. Michael had gotten a job at the clothing store on the Boardwalk. Everything was great. Normal, even.
Until grandpa died.
And now their lives were back in boxes. Packed away and ready for the move back to Phoenix, Arizona. Back to what started this whole mess in the first place.

"Eyes on me," its breathless, a command that Michael was more then willing to obey. David loomed over him, eyes soft beneath the moonlight and lips curled into an easy going smile. Fingers curled against his chin, tilting it so that brown met hazel.
"Atta boy," a purr, thumb brushing against a bottom lip, snagging at the skin and pulling until his mouth opened of its own accord. That same thumb dipped in, pad of it pressing against his tongue and forcing his jaw to creak open.
David hovered, a moon orbiting its sun. Fingers pressed against the column of his throat, nails digging in just enough to press crescents into the pale expanse of it. "Michael," a whisper, a prayer.
"Michael," reverent, desired.
"Michael," a growl, gravel against cement.
Hazel eyes flashed gold, gentle touches turned harsh. Nails bit into flesh, digging past tissue and sinew until it ground against bone. Michael thrashed, eyes wide and jaw held open by the beast above him. His screams fell short, choked as blood bubbled up a torn throat and past parted lips.
"Why, Michael."

Michael startled awake and promptly hit his head off the car window. “Ow! Dammit.” He rubbed his head, wincing in pain and looked up.
He was in his moms cramped old car, sitting in the passenger seat. He looked to his left and his mom was driving, singing along to some song on the radio.
He looked behind him at Sam in the back, surrounded by moving boxes, reading a comic book. He looked outside the window just as the car passed a sign saying they were now entering Santa Carla.
But that couldn’t be right.
He’s been in Santa Carla for days now. As a matter of fact… memories hit him like a truck. A pain in his ear as a needle pierced his lobe. Four motorcycles roared on the boardwalk. The taste of that wine in the weird bottle. Michael letting go as a train rolled above him on the bridge. Michael… flying. The bloodlust. The plan. Defeating first David then Max.
That was supposed to be the end of it. Vampires gone. They all lived happily ever after.
Right?
