Summary
Steve and Sam return from a futile tour of the globe on the heels of the ghost of the Winter Soldier to find a pile of postcards with the names of confirmed-killed HYDRA agents waiting at Stark Tower: mission reports from the ghost to the only commanding officer he still feels he has.
All of it is set to culminate in New York City... if Bucky can remember what he set up.With some Clint/Natasha, Bucky/Natasha, Steve/Sam pining, a whole bunch of friendship dynamics, gratuitous pop culture references (Bucky is obsessed with pop music, as a coping strategy), slash, het, and a lot of cussing.

Bookmarker's Notes
Amazingly better each chapter than the one before. The Soldier faking it until he makes it, trying to keep 18 grenades in the air and not mess up by being caught too soon, the Widow trying to ration the flow of information so that it does the best good for all concerned ...
The author grounds us in the physicality of the Soldier, James, Bucky as he struggles with his physical conditioning, his mental conditioning, his deteriorating arm, and his terrible, terrifying desire to fulfill his chosen mission and maybe possibly have some truth to go with it.
Read this now.

Bookmarker's Notes
I close my eyes again. My face twists. I see their faces, hear them laughing, yelling when I tell them what I won't do. I see the first fist coming at me, feel my terror as it all goes out of control. I tried to get away, tried to claw and fight them off and they just went - mad. Then there is only pain, I'm down on the ground and they are stomping on my chest and stomach, kicking me, screaming Whore, Slut, Bitch. They spit on me before they leave me there, bleeding. I am nothing. Worthless.
"Now," his deep black voice spears right through me - gives me something to grab onto, "take hold of it, pull it in, to your core. You need it. It is yours. It is you. It can be your weakness, or it can be your strength. Choose. Right now."

The Pevensies have lived to adulthood at least once each, and been war-leaders, diplomats, and spies for much of that time. No one can lose their experiences and reactions; as they grow up a second time, these reactions can startle or dismay those responsible for (if not to ) them.
Well written, hair-raising, excellent stories. The first five are vignettes - I particularly recommend Original Suspicious Bastard and A Thin Veneer of Civility - but the sixth is a deeply satisfying story of what, in fact, Pevensies In England are good for.

"Relax, I'm sure it's not legally binding."
"Who cares about legally binding!" John said. "I don't feel like being subjected to bad practical jokes for the rest of my life." He looked at Ford hard. Ford only blinked back innocently.
Hilarious early riff on the theme of offworld-married; if they're gonna get the teasing, John and Rodney figure they might as well get the benefits.

Summary
There's a lot of screaming going on inside the first house Stiles visits. He isn't really worried, because it sounds like kids, but then the door opens and hi, says his dick, because the dude in front of him is gorgeous, built like a god with a face like thunder. Stiles wants to lick that solid jaw line. Hold the fuck on, says his cop brain, because the dude's got kids hanging all over him; one's on his back, skinny legs looped around his waist, and another two hanging off one arm, toes barely brushing the ground. There's a tubby toddler clinging to his leg like a koala, and he's got a baby tucked into the crook of the one arm that doesn’t have kids hanging off it. Stiles' mouth drops open.
"How many of those kids did you kidnap?" he asks before he can wrangle his brain into submission.
The man gives him a look that says what the fuck is wrong with you and snaps, "You think I'd subject myself to this on purpose?"
"Oooh," says one of the kids hanging off his arm. "I'm telling Mom."

Following on in rollicking style from Cougar Shot Down a UFO, this story takes Our Heroes into the inevitable encounter with the Avengers et al, winding by various roads into small-town Southern America, with its many and varied opportunities for horizon-broadening.
Great voices, great original characters, lots of good story here. Ongoing, and worth it.

Kicking off of a scene in Five times Eliot was invited to a threesome and it didn’t mean anything, and one time it did, this runs the situation to its logical conclusion. Beautiful, long, hot like cinnamon schnapps in your hot cider, both comfortable and plotty. Great stuff.

"Cougar nods and pretends he doesn't notice when the guy drops something into it on its way to Cougar’s hand. His stomach shivers in anticipation as he raises the glass to his lips. This is going to be bad, he thinks, and he feels a flare of hope, that this will finally be the one so bad that his fucked-up desires will learn their lesson. That he’ll be able to stop looking at men, wanting men."
The one sure cure for homophobia is getting to know a homosexual person of sound character. Cougar finally finds himself a ... hairdresser.

Scorching hot, sensual descriptions both visual and tactile, and everything one would want in a railcar porn story.

He looked up into the mirror, seeing himself as Ray must have seen him. He needed a haircut. He needed a shave. Worse, he was badly out of shape, thanks to regular meal deliveries by the local church ladies' groups and no regular regimen of exercise. He'd never had to worry about that before, so he hadn't here either. Apparently he should have. Good God. How the hell had he let this happen?
Ray just "stops by while he's in the neighborhood" - i.e., inside the borders of Canada - and he and Fraser start putting themselves back together, with the help of (again) a performance arsonist.Excellent exploration of the concept of home being people rather than place.

Agent Phil Coulson of SHIELD is reluctantly heading home for his high school reunion, at the request of an old friend. Natasha Romanov is playing the part of his girlfriend, even though she’s not. Clint Barton’s shown up with his bike, his bass, and a surprising knowledge of bluegrass. To complicate matters, Phil's parents wish he’d just settle down, Natasha has a hidden agenda, Clint ends up aiding and abetting juvenile delinquency, and the town in general is extraordinarily concerned with alien carp.

"Um, hey, uh, the Hulk," Tony tries, "did I ever tell you about the time I built a particle accelerator in my garage?"
The Hulk turns on him, then throws his head back and writhes, looking a lot like Bruce when Bruce is trying to resist the change. It takes about three seconds flat and then Tony's smugness is justified again and the schoolchildren will be saved, hurrah.
"Um, I'm not sure this is actually more appropriate for the kiddies," Tony suggests, because this time Bruce's pants did not survive the journey.
"Form a circle," Steve instructs. "Barton, the emergency pants."
There are things that can de-Hulk Bruce.
And then there are times not to do so.
Burning hot and sweet like a roasted marshmallow. More than worth rereading. In private.

When Lord Legerwood's wife sent him to discuss the delicate matters of the bedchamber with his dim, inexperienced, but unexpectedly capable son, he opened with,
"But to return to the topic of the birds and the bees, there are some interesting facts about them that I believe you might find useful."
But Freddy, apparently, wasn't having any of it. "No I bally well might not," he retorted with some heat. "Can't stand either of 'em, sir, if you must know. Never cared for the way birds stare at you. Beady eyes: remind me of m'Aunt Augusta. And as for the bally bees! Got stung on the nose by a bee punting when I was at Eton. Hurt like the very dickens, I can tell you, and I wasn't fit to be seen for a week. Never been able to look a bee in the eye since."Food, drink, and loud noise warnings apply. No knowledge of the canon is needed, but once you have read this, you will find the canon required.
