Erwin snaps out of the trance and is brought back to the reality of the auction room. He lowers his gaze from the young man on stage and tilts the glass to his lips to take a drink.
He lets the rich dark liquid burn down his throat and settle in his stomach where it helps ignite the flames. He can feel the heat rise up his neck and to his ears. He can feel it burning on the palms of his hands.
Erwin wonders to himself, if this is what Icarus felt when his wings felt the heat of the boiling sun.

Summary
Crown prince Erwin is ordered to find a bride amongst the members of the House of Ackerman. The noble house in question is in desperate need of strong allies and as such, an arrangement between Mikasa and the crown prince is quickly made.
Just before the wedding, Mikasa disappears. The Ackermans cannot risk the betrothal being dissolved whilst they covertly search for her, so the wedding needs to go ahead as planned.
What they need is someone of Ackerman blood that looks like Mikasa and can convincingly portray her during the ceremony.
As Mikasa's twin, Levi is not pleased by this plan.
