This wholesome, happy-endings-all-around, smutty queer fantasy romance features an M/M main couple along with a host of supporting characters bringing some trans rep, some pan rep, some sex worker positivity, and even a straight ally who tries his darndest.
Plenty of fluff, plenty of sexy times, a few funny bits, and our gang all make it through the Horrors - but there's a war on, so there's also plenty of angst and bloody violence along the way.
CW: Violence, violent death (no main characters), homophobic society, intern. homophobia/closeting, intern. transphobia (supp. character), war veteran ptsd, slavery (supp. character - no abuse is depicted and sentiments are anti-slavery), strong language.

A Steampunk/ Gaslamp Fantasy Romance set in the same world as "A Drink Before Battle", but much later in that world's industrial revolution era.
Magic, mad science, multicultural ambience, and political intrigue all tightly laced up into one corset and powered by the steam of two romances - one F/M and one M/M.

In which Damen ponders the meaning of strength and power and realises when its comes to Laurent he needn't be either.

"Something rancid was eroding Damen’s stomach lining and his heart strings in tandem. Like bile… acidic. It left a bitter taste in his mouth that the wine couldn’t hope to wash away.
When he thought back on that night, something had changed now. It was as if he were seeing it far too clearly. Laurent on his, back... straining, fighting and panting. Both in bed and in the ring days later, he was struggling… desperate. He ruminated on his eyes, those cool blue eyes that widened at the very prospect of choice. His voice… that mellowed, echoed and softened the moment Damen put the blade and so, the power into Laurent’s hands.

“…Shit.”As they deal with the stress of an unexplained plague in the South, Mu Qing and Feng Xin’s bickering takes a turn for the worse as Feng Xin unintentionally brings up Mu Qing’s mother.
Mu Qing storms off and ends up in his mother’s tomb, and unwittingly gives himself up to a monster in the disguise of his beloved mother.
As Mu Qing is on the verge of dying at the hands of the monster, he subconsciously sends a prayer to Feng Xin in his last moments.
Feelings ensue. Feng Xin probably ascends for a second time.

Summary
Wen Kexing knelt in the snow clutching his torn crimson robes as the Leader of Tian Chuang tilted his face upwards with the tip of his sword. His face was devoid of emotions and his dark eyes were like a murky pool of some unknown liquid that Wen Kexing will drown in and die.
Ghost Valley Master vs. Leader of Tian Chuang role play/play fight/foreplay, i.e. the usual stuff they do but a little more kinky.
This is majorly show canon, but as usual my brain just loves to mash the novel and the show together. So, there might be little novel stuff/descriptions slipping in.
