Over the few weeks he is a guest in their home, he finds himself in the company of the youngest of the four adult sons, Dennis Whitaker, who opens up to him. Dennis finds himself enamoured by the traveller crashing in the trailer on his family's property, an older man who is surprisingly good with his hands. They grow closer, truths come out about what really caused Robby to cross into Nebraska, and the family dynamic Dennis lives with.
