Victor made a man out of corpse parts, do you really think he wouldn’t try and rebuild his own leg the same way?
This of course goes great with absolutely no consequences as Victor is great at thinking through his actions.
In other words, Victor is forced to learn empathy whether he likes it or not, a fix it fic set immediately after the fire.

Summary
As he looked in the mirror, he saw the caring concentration on Elizabeth's face as she brushed his hair. He tried to not wince as his scalp was tugged.
He had never given much thought to what grew out of his head. Once Victor left, it started growing and would not stop. As far as he could tell, it did not do anything. It was the one part of his body that seemed to have a mind of its own.
"What is its purpose?"
“Hair, you mean?”
He gave a small nod, trying to tamp down his embarrassment for asking such an elementary question.
Elizabeth, however, treated it as any other question, as if he had asked for the time. "We're mammals. We all have it somewhere. In animals, it covers their whole bodies for warmth. For us, it simply prefers our heads most of all.”
Us. The word struck him. To Elizabeth, he was no different from her. In doing this act, she was letting him into a part of her existence. Something private, unseen by the outside world. He was willing to go wherever she would lead him.

Though Victor’s head goes limp against the pillow, and his breathing dips to nearly nothing, his creation is not fooled. He would never be fooled by this man again.
Even now, as the Captain of this frozen vessel drew a hand to his face in disbelief and mourning, the loathsome creature could still hear the faintest of sounds from within him, far quieter than anyone else could hear. A sound for him, alone.

It turned out this way. Making plans wouldn't have helped. Who could possibly have anticipated this?
I stared at the scenario screen, rubbed at my eyes, read it again, and finally closed the window.
I would just ignore it. I didn't understand, but the compensation was too low, the difficulty was insulting, and the failure cost was easily avoided. Even in the worst case scenario, ignoring it would be negligible, so why not ignore it?
