Summary
Ivan breathes a humorless laugh. "I don't know what it is you want from me."
Till furiously snaps back, "I want you to—" before cutting himself off. He takes a deep breath and relaxes his scrunched-up facial features before continuing, quieter. "I'm your best friend. I find you half passed out in some—fucked up garden that you've been coughing up for a year, and I'm freaking out because I don't know what's going on or—or if you'll be okay, and now that I know you're okay, the doctors are saying they can't let you go because you're too damn sick to be left alone!"
His lower lip quivers ever so slightly. Ivan, for his own sake, unfocuses his eyes until Till is only a shapeless blur of colors in the middle of a sea of hospital white.
"I'm your best friend," the blur repeats, breathlessly. "I want you to fucking say something to me."
Hanahaki disease is, quite famously, a condition born from love. Ivan is convinced that his case is the exception to this rule. And when each of his friends inevitably starts catching on to his quickly deteriorating health, everything goes spinning out of control.

An affirmative answer dripped to the very tip of Tadashi’s tongue. Although strongly tempted to respond with the usual monotone professionalism, he wasn’t yet given permission to so much as utter a yes or a no. Now that the collar was on, he wouldn't be allowed to speak unless it was to bark, whimper, or concede a safeword where necessary.
“I don’t think poorly disciplined dogs should be allowed on furniture,” said Ainosuke, his tone falling to a dark, imminent lilt.
Again, Ainosuke wasn’t asking—he was commanding, his voice a bristling feather against the ridge of Tadashi’s neck. Excitement breathed from his lips, his own blush prominent and scalding to the touch.
A thick stone lay dormant in the bed of Tadashi’s gut. Conflict pinning him on a fine edge between his pride and his personal pleasure gained from their intensive play.
Their gazes locked, Tadashi’s a subtle glare. He retained silence, holding his breath knowing a single flushed sigh would expose right away how much of a defiant beast he’d become overnight. Much to his master's surprise, and curiosity.

The suit swings on its hangar as Shiro backs out of his driveway, but it doesn't fall, it holds on. And soon enough, the road is straight and the suit is still, casting a long shadow across the backseat of Shiro's car. His headlights only shine so far ahead, but he knows this part of the drive by heart. Too well, like the way his heart is beating too fast. He takes one turn, and then another, and another, heartbeat gradually slowing as the freeway opens up in front of him. There’s not much traffic this late at night. The road becomes less familiar as the hours stack up, and somehow it’s a relief to not know exactly what comes next. If he looks in his rearview mirror, he can see the suit hanging there, his sole companion. He’ll snap another picture of it soon.
