Alright, let’s do this one last time. For three years, Sister Spider has been the one and only Spider-Person. She was first spotted on Halloween, swinging down from a rooftop to stop a mugging in a Spirit Halloween nun outfit. Since then she’s saved a bunch of people, pissed off a bunch of conservatives, gotten an outfit upgrade, saved the city, saved the city again, and again and again, and again. She was also a guest judge on drag race.
Who is Sister Spider? What is her name, gender, age? No one knows, but the important thing is that she’s the one standing between this city and oblivion. There's only one Spider-Person, and you’re looking at her.
Oh, you’re really looking at her. Naughty.
Anyway, there’s only one Spider-Person. Up until AmazingPhil has yet another medical emergency.

Sam always sort of thought the end of the world would be a). some sort of alien invasion again and b). something he could at least attempt to stop. But when the newest apocalypse comes in the form of a nuclear warhead, he can't exactly fly over to whoever sent it and say "Hey, asshole, haven't you ever seen War Games?" Especially when nobody's really sure who sent it.
So what does he do about it, as Captain America? There's not exactly a rulebook, but it turns out it involves ferrying President Asshole and his cartoonishly-evil Secretary of Defense through the Maryland wilderness while trying to keep his own friends alive despite their best attempts to get themselves killed.
It also involves a fair amount of pining, because he's started to notice that his best friend looks unfairly attractive when sweaty, bloody, and fresh from a helicopter crash...

Thomas walks slowly back to the microphone. It is only a couple steps, but it is the longest few seconds of Charles’ life. The anticipation and stress are killing him. Finally, Thomas reaches the podium again and reads the name on the slip of paper.
“The voted tribute from District 8 is… Edwin Payne.”
And Charles’ heart shatters.
It’s the 125th Hunger Games and the Quarter Quell rules are simple: one tribute is selected by the district citizens via voting, while the other tribute must be a volunteer. The problem with solving big, flashy cases and going international is that you become well-known. Word came down about everything the Dead Boy Detectives managed to do in Port Townsend, and they have never been busier. The problem with becoming more well-known is that you don't always draw the kind of attention you want. You might jump onto the radar of someone with a grudge just looking for an excuse.
Technically, it is part of a series, but it can be easily read as a stand-alone.
