Sometimes Steve gets these crazy dreams. He wakes up from them shivering, hand reaching for something under his bed that doesn’t exist. The plots of them mostly fade after a minute, so he’s left with unsettling images that haunt him whenever he closes his eyes: vines, pulsing like a muscle; caustic spores stuck in the back of his throat; a creature’s mouth unfolding like a toothy flower.

"Eddie Munson, if we make it out of this..." Steve huffed, lugging the limp body of said stoner into the remnants of the Munson trailer that he'd somehow managed to stumble all the way into, "You can give me a tattoo, whatever you want."
He was shocked and relieved to hear the weak laugh coming from behind the metalhead's wild hair, the strands of dark brown draped over his face like a veil.
"Now...I have to make it out..." Eddie wheezed, "Cause that's the deal of a lifetime."
Vecna has finally been defeated, the evil of Henry Creel now vanquished through the combined efforts of every member of The Party...and somehow everyone made it out alive. Sure, Max was in a wheelchair for an indeterminate amount of time, and yeah, Eddie had more battle scars than everyone there combined, but they made it.
Now Eddie Munson was a free man, with a new trailer and brand new prospects. If only Steve Harrington would stop looking at him like that.

“Breathe with me man,” he finally comprehends, too frazzled to figure out who’s speaking to him. He dimly feels fingers wrap around his wrist and lift it so that his hand is pressed against a firm chest. “Come on, match my breath. You got it.”
“We shouldn’t have brought him here,” someone says, sounding apologetic. “What were we thinking, bringing him back to Lover’s Lake?”
Eddie finally manages to suck in a lungful of air, in sync with the chest rising beneath his palm. It catches on his throat on the way out and makes him cough, makes his eyes tear up. There’s a pair of hands on him, then another, and another, and together they pull his trembling form out of the water. He hacks out another round of coughs before attempting to breathe again, his hand still being held in place. Only when he takes more breaths, still shaky but consistent, is his hand released. He misses the warmth around his wrist and beneath his palm immediately.
“I don’t wanna die,” he mumbles, somewhat incoherent. “I don’t wanna die again.”
[Eddie can't seem to do anything right. Even when he dies, he manages to fuck it up.]

Nobody calls Stephanie Harrington “Stephanie”, or even “Steph.” There are five other Stephanies in her grade, and there are only so many nicknames that name can derive. Instead, she goes by Stevie, because when she was a kid, her best friend Tommy’s older brother used to tease and call her Steve or Stephan. The third Hagan kid also had a boyish nickname, Charlie for Charlotte, so it was the kind of teasing she didn’t mind.

Eddie’s brow furrows. His wings quiver.
“And how is that our problem? What exactly do they want you to do about that?”
Steve thinks he's playing dumb on purpose, but he doesn’t say that. He supposes the sooner he gets this out in the open, the better.
“Well, produce an heir, obviously.”
“Produce?” Eddie’s brow twitches.”Like what, in a shop?”
Steve rolls his eyes. “Yes, Eddie, in a shop. C'mon already, you know exactly what I'm talking about. They want me to take a consort, have children. A son or two, preferably. It's one of my duties as a-”
Eddie snarls. His eyes flash gold, just at the same time that the warm glow in Steve's chest turns into a searing blaze, jealousy and possessiveness and mineminemine crashing into his mind like a physical thing.
It occurs to him, a bit belatedly, that maybe he could've chosen a smarter way to open this discussion.
