This is an alternate ending where Javier follows Arthur and John instead of Dutch at Beaver Hollow.
It's intended to be read as a part two/alt ending to my other Jovier fic 'I'll eat you whole, I love you so', but can be read alone with the caveat that the relationship between John and Javier is many years established by now. And also very emotionally constipated and full of so many misunderstandings it's probably a world record. It's written in the same format with multiple POVs.

Yes. He didn’t think anything about it for another couple of hours. And when everything began to ache, Vox certainly didn’t put it together with the flowers at first. Why would he? Vox didn’t have pollen allergies. He had filters in his vents for such things. He could withstand more of Val’s smoke than anyone else in Hell. He would not have breathing issues from anything.
Of course, when it started to feel like his skin was crawling, Vox remembered that sometimes this sort of thing had more to do with touch than it did ventilation. He scratched the back of his hand, but he couldn’t say he felt itchy. The sensation was familiar, but it wasn’t until sitting at his desk became unbearable that he began to put it together.

Screen heating up a little more, Vox shoots a bored look.
“Or just late,” he snips back. “Oh well,” he claps his hands. “Doesn’t matter, you ready to get down to business?”
“Oh baby,” a bright gleam in endless red eyes, “I’m always ready to get down.”

After Sam and Dean are arrested, Castiel is left alone and scrambling to find them. He knows they’re locked away in a government facility, and he’s still able to hear their prayers, but no matter how he tries Castiel can’t seem to track them. He chases leads and even attempts to hunt on his own, but Mary is AWOL, Crowley refuses to help, and Castiel’s options are running out.
Weeks pass, Castiel’s hope dwindles, and through it all Dean prays, keeping them connected. His voice is comforting, frustrating, and occasionally annoying, but in his solitude Castiel comes to cherish it. But then one day, without warning, Dean stops praying, and Castiel is forced to confront some uncomfortable truths about his feelings.
