I have used 1978 as the year that 'Silver on the Tree' is set and this takes place about 15 years afterwards, so events take place in 1993/4. Like Susan Cooper I've tried not to use too many things that can pin it down to a specific date, so if people want to think it takes place at a different time, they can!

This is not how Adam thought his story would end - stuck in a cage in hell with the two most powerful beings in existence and his half-brother. At least he has Michael, the powerful archangel who promised to protect him at all costs. Just when Adam has resigned to the painful existence in the cage - Sam's tormented screams stop and his half-brother is gone. Without Sam to distract Lucifer, the other powerful archangel turns his attention to Adam as his next target.
Desperate to escape Lucifer's wrath, Michael cuts Adam a deal. Just a simple bonding of the angel's grace to Adam's soul.

Summary
Arthur wakes up in modern Glastonbury and to his unfathomable relief finds Merlin. But nothing is simple. Everything he knew is gone, for one. He wonders what of his achievements were actually his own, and not just Merlin's magic, for another. Arthur also has to face the fact that he kept the ban on magic going. Was he ever truly a good king?
There is also the “I love you” he mouthed to Merlin before dying. Something he cannot afford to focus on, because, as Merlin tells him, Albion’s time of greatest need is upon them.
Then comes the unthinkable. Merlin’s magic, which has been growing over the last thousand years, is suddenly too strong for the sorcerer's human body to handle. Faced with the prospect of losing Merlin, feelings suddenly come out and Arthur realizes that if he can save the man he loves and the land of Albion, he might be able to forgive himself for his mistakes and everything he is not.
The question is, can he?
Expect fluff, angst, humor, banter, hurt/comfort, whump, and lots of Merthur!

“Adam?” Sam asked, hesitantly. “Or… Michael?”
Adam knew he had to look ridiculous. Before, they’d seen him while he still had an archangel maintaining his body, but after the last day and a half? He was sweaty and sunburnt and dehydrated and he could almost feel the bags under his eyes. But another gift of the Cage was losing the ability to give a fuck what he looked like.
“Michael isn't home right now,” Adam said. “And I’d like to know why.”
