“Always think,” Rocky shifted his ball closer, bumping into Grace’s shoulder. Grace bumped it back, lips quirking up. “Think, think, think. Human brain never shut off. What Grace think about, question?”
Grace went quiet for a moment and looked away. “Uh, my… ‘mate.’ Back on Earth. I remember I had one.”
A series of happy little squeaks and chirps erupted from Rocky, his claws waving in frantic little jazz hands. He must have been excited to realize Grace had someone waiting for him back at home. Grace still didn't have the heart to tell him the truth, and likely never would. He shakes the thought away and focuses, eyes half-lidded and flickering back toward Rocky. The display pulled a genuine smile from Grace, though he wasn’t sure there was anything happy about the man back on Earth who grabbed him like a dog.
________________Alternatively, Grace has a flashback and subsequent revelations about himself and the person he was dating back on Earth. It affects him more than he thought it would.

It’s not specific enough to be called a plan—just goals, small and large, mostly vague, probably all of them too ambitious—but Peter feels good today, high off a fight that ended well and a comradery he hasn’t had in years. He’s sad it was all over so quickly, but he’s home now, feeling alive. Feeling ready.
Peter knows, with a certainty he’s never felt before, that his life could be different.

It was Gabe’s damned fault. Cole would die here, left to rot on the floor of a dirty warehouse alongside a mentor who was no better than the men in Deadlock he’d taken him from. He’d promised him a better life, promised to teach him how to be a good man. What a joke. This scrawny, energetic kid who could shoot better than any full grown man Gabe had ever known, with a beaming smile and bright eyes and a soft face, round with youth, was hopeful, and Gabe had never known hope. Cole was emotional, angry, but also kind-hearted and charismatic and warm. And he would die like filth alongside Gabe, and Gabe would never be forgiven.
Feat. a lot of cursing, Cole losing an arm, and Gabe trying so, so hard to be a good dad.

Steve never tells anyone about Billy. He watches Max disappear into herself with grief and guilt but he can’t bring himself to tell her that he feels it, too. That he knows the loss is mixed up with hatred and relief, but is still pure in the way it pierces something fundamental inside of him, and he gets it. He just never tells anyone.
But then there is Eddie Munson, with a wickedness that feels wholesome and warm and slowly, Steve is starting to think he might want it. He just doesn’t think he can figure it out without first figuring out how to let go of Billy.

The thing about plastic chairs is that they weren't a great substitute for an actual bed; the other thing is, Robert can't exactly afford to be picky and even if he 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 the internal debate is still ongoing as to whether or not he deserves a mattress at this current point in his life.
So, the plastic chair stays and is staying for the foreseeable future. Besides, it's charming - in a depressing, minimalism-that-is-totally-not-a-reflection-of-his-inner-sense-of-worth way.

“You’re lucky, Zoro,” she had spat, eyes turned up towards the sky, like she was trying to hold in tears. He'd never seen Kuina cry before. He’d never seen any expression on her face other than her teeth gritted in determination or her grinning in victory. “I want to be the greatest swordsman too. But girls grow up, and their bodies become weaker than men's. I’m never going to be the greatest.”
Kuina tells him this, and Zoro can barely comprehend the words she’s saying. He thinks of the countless hours he’s spent training by the river bed, the green locks of his hair left on the floor after Koushirou helped him shear it all off, of the people he thought of as family a lifetime ago calling him by a name he despised. Zoro puts a hand to his chest, where he’d hastily wrapped bandages earlier that day, remembering how his body had begun changing and he didn’t understand why-
“You’re lucky to have been born a man, Zoro,” Kuina finishes lamely.
Zoro sees red.

Suguru’s heart broke within him, reconstructing, swelling, bleeding, and breaking again each time Satoru’s eyes met his, looking at him in the beautiful way he really only looked at Suguru.

It was as if Satoru had ripped his own heart out of his chest and offered it. Suguru carefully cradled it, getting blood all over himself. He would’ve done anything to make sure it kept beating.
“You were born light blue,” Suguru said. “It’s innate. I don’t think that will ever change.”
“But what if it does?” Satoru asked. “I’m terrified of losing myself, Sugu. And I’m close. I’m so close.”
