Homelander’s lip twitched at that first comment. He was used to the little quips and jabs from everyone, but coming from Butcher it was just a little more irritating than others. Maybe that was what he liked about William. He knew how to make it hurt.
His shoulders slowly rose and fell as he filled his lungs with as much air as they could hold, trying to calm his ever-beating heart as he was forced to pull his last attempt to get Butcher to take compound V.
