Technologies began to rapidly develop, straying into the most dangerous path - destruction.
Where the villains appeared, there were people who could stop them though. The city became a self regulating loop and a few waited for an opportunity to break it.Almost all feared the day. Some began to fight against it.

Anathematized after a poor interaction with time-traveling aliens, Lance finds he has the ability to rewind time. Despite its limitations, Lance uses the power to the team’s advantage, both in war and to mess with his friends.
Then he realizes he can confess his feelings to Keith with impunity.
There’s only one problem: the parting words of the aliens who cursed him. His death is prophesied, and not even they know the details of his future. So Lance decides to make the best of what little time he has left.
If that means he spends every waking moment showing Keith his love, before reverting time over and over again so Keith won’t remember it, then so be it. Even if that means he’ll die without Keith knowing how he feels.

Summary
Becoming a superhero had been an accident. Literally.
Lance wasn’t the type who had been born with his abilities, they weren’t gifted to him by a god or some weird genetic mutation, he hadn’t been tortured until his body went beyond the normal human expectation, and he hadn’t died and come back to life like some people had.
It’s estimated that about 6% percent of the population was a super of some sort. This was including abilities that didn’t seem that useful, like fire breathing or being able to levitate small objects. Then again, that had been an estimate taken back when understanding how someone was a super and why they were a super wasn’t really well known. Even now it still confused scientists. They couldn’t figure out the exact reason why some people developed abilities and others didn’t, for some it was genetic and for others there was no traceable cause. And most people didn’t report if they had abilities or not which made it hard to count how many supers there were.
Point being, Lance had a very, very, very, slim chance of having powers. Incredibly slim.
