When a stranger shows his face in the village, the wind parting around his pale features and carrying the rustle of the invitation Alastor’s dreamt of, how can he do anything but follow? He has never been a particularly religious man.
But perhaps that is due to his lack of somebody worthy to worship.

Truthless always found himself returning to the top of the spire. A whisper urged him along as he climbed the nearly infinite staircase, pulling on the shame in his gut as he neared the top. The whispers giggled maniacally, fading out as his head popped up over the landing. He made his way to the center of the spire, knelt down in the middle and rested his head against his staff. His shadow stretched, bubbling from the ground and molding itself into his other half. His shadow leaned down, lifting Truthless' face by the chin.
