His eyes were that of a jewel, shining with life, but at the same time housing a certain darkness only someone like Clown could recognize. It shone with a pinkish tint, bright and faint, like a star in the twilight sky. It was blurred against a dull, darker color.

But between infighting online, they keep running into each other at concerts. Fucked up on cocktails of drugs and alcohol; things turn nasty, sexy, and dark very quick.
A combination of reckless recreational drug use, loud ass music and Mello's scary friend, Beyond, turns things from harmless, hateful fun to maybe too much for Matt to handle.

His trial set unprecedented history as the first ever, and likely the last ever, to include non-human entities as key witnesses. Notably, the shinigami Ryuk agreed to testify on Light Yagami’s behalf for quote, “entertainment and a favor to a longtime friend”. Many officers of the law from across the globe have stated that it is a miracle he was even granted a trial in the first place, as there was overwhelming evidence of his crimes, and due to the scale of his trangressions, it was very likely that he would have been simply executed quietly. However, the court seemingly intended to make an example out of him, that even the great and elusive Kira could be captured.

L wins AU! in which Light has been in jail for two years when L shows up asking for his help with a case. Light desperately wants to help, he missed their competition and has been very bored without it but he feels that L is hiding something. L tilts his head, inquisitive, smiling all the while, as the tap runs its timer, and the water stops flowing.
Clearing his throat, Light stands and looks back in front of him, at his reflection, ignoring the looming reflection of L over his shoulder, “Of course I lie. Who doesn’t? But I don’t lie where it matters. Only little white lies.”
He fixes his tie, flicks the water droplets off his hands and styles his hair, framing the curling side pieces around his jaw.
"I like that you lie,” L tells him, “Because I always know when you do, and you know that I know. It’s like an implicit game. I just wonder when you’ll stop hiding behind words and just tell me that you’re Kira.”
Yagami Light is the front-man for an unpopular Visual Kei tribute band while also juggling being the world's most elusive serial killer. L is assigned to the case, and has to figure out how to draw Light out into a confession, but finds himself tangled up in his own emotions, which complicates things a lot.

L knows that Light Yagami is guilty. And he is forced to accept that he will never be able to prove it.
So, just this once, he decides to break his principles and go above the law. He kidnaps Light and takes him to Wammy's house.
He's sure that having the kids interact with a real-life mass murderer will be a very educational experience indeed.
Or: Light is Kira, L is sick of how easily manipulated the police are, and he secretly wants to see what will happen if he forces Light into a domestic situation with children just as intelligent as he is.
