“Maybe in another life-” Megumi’s voice was choked off and a sob broke through. Unconsciously he tightened the hold of his eyes, rainbows fluttered where the black should be. It was hard to breathe, and even made him feel like being sick.
Strong hands clutched at his jaw, tightening to the point where it was uncomfortable, and he shot his eyes open, only to be met with unrelenting golden ones.
“There is no other fucking life Megumi, you’re either with me now or never, because there might not be a future for me.” Panic coursed through his veins, and Megumi held onto the hand that clutched his face hard. Terror from the idea of him dying again plaguing his thoughts. “And god dammit, I want every moment of this miserable life to be with you.”

Maybe Sukuna isn’t wrong about that, Fushiguro thinks in a daze. Itadori’s heart is too heavy and too precious. It’s a burden that shouldn’t be given to anyone else. Because even Itadori himself can’t take care of it, can’t hold onto it for the life of him because he’d rather become the vessel to the most wretched of all curses just to help two people he’s only known for a few months—to help Fushiguro, who he’d only met that night.

Maybe Sukuna’s definition of ruin wasn’t all that wrong from what Fushiguro wanted after all. Maybe that did make him just as wretched.

Summary
It started in the kitchen, he thinks, the bursting of this weirdo thing they have between the two of them. Maybe the kitchen's the wrong spot to pinpoint- maybe it was those years ago, stood in an old, dank barn gripping fear and that demon blade. Or, rather, it was before all that, with Dean cutting folks up on the racks and carving out those rictus faces, and Cas still thinking he was worth saving anyway. Wherever it was- Dean thinks now, it really started to break in the kitchen, after everything else is said and done, and when it ends up spilling, he'll be left alone to clean up the mess.

Unfortunately, Dean Winchester is nothing if not stubborn.
He sucks on his teeth for a moment, roughly picks up his duffel, and slings it over his shoulder as he storms past Cas in the doorway with a bite of, “Go get in the damn car,”.
(TLDR: Cas is rescued from the empty, human. Dean wants to stop hunting because he loves Cas, but can't figure out how to let himself; however, he doesn't want Cas to hunt either, because he loves him. Conflict, angstiness, and love ensues.)

Summary
The world is empty. Castiel’s sacrifice has left them reeling. The aftermath of Jack’s detonation creates something in him that he doesn’t understand. Dean cedes all leadership to Sam, lost in the numb haze of guilt and grief. Sam’s renewed determination carries them all, and he refuses to accept any outcome that isn’t the world put to rights and his family, all of them, together again.
The three of them aren’t all that’s left, however; Michael finds that his personal freedom and refusal to fight come at too high a cost. Suppressed voices fight to be heard, and Death’s absence creates a unique if morbid opportunity.
Earth is a necropolis, Heaven is collapsing in on itself, and victory over Chuck won’t be enough to repair a crumbling universe, nor will returning to old regimes be enough to prevent a free world from repeating its mistakes. The actions and decisions determining the shape of reality can no longer be restricted to a road that always leads to the Winchesters.

A few beats of silence pass, almost to the extent of worrying Dean that he’s been caught eavesdropping.
“Sam,” Castiel quietly starts, tone careful. “I’m not sure how to less boldly ask, but...is there any chance that Dean may have been avoiding short sleeves for other reasons?”.
Okay, now Dean is ready to intervene. Like, ASAP.
He plasters on a content grin and tries to pretend as if his very bones aren’t rattling from fear, marching in with an unexpectedly rough, “Mornin’,” as he makes his way into the kitchen—thoroughly interrupting Sam’s apprehensive, “What do you mean ‘other reasons’?”.
(TLDR: Castiel gets saved from the empty and comes back to an extremely depressed/grieving Dean. Jack, Sam, Eileen, and Cas do their best to figure life out together, and Dean gets help. Heavy deancas centric + recovery process from alc withdrawal & sh)

Summary
The Cage was never meant to hold a human. It was meant for one archangel, not two, and definitely not a human soul. Little by little Sam's soul was being destroyed by the torture the Cage inflicted on it. Lucifer and Michael joined together and, with their combined grace, pieced together Sam Winchester's soul and sent him out of the Cage and into the past in the hopes that he can stop this whole thing before it even starts.
Only, when Sam lands, things don't quite go so well. He's not all that sure that this isn't another torture the Cage has provided for him. He's in the past, right after Dean got out of Hell, and he's nowhere near the same man he was before. He can barely remember how to function as a human. It's going to take his family and a little help from a surprised archangel for Sam to start to recover. He doesn't have much time, though, because the apocalypse is still coming and the angels are fighting to get Lucifer free. Can one broken man manage to change the past? Or are they doomed to repeat their same mistakes over and over again?
