Summary
Dean has been working as a getaway driver for Crowley for 14 years, and has survived by developing a few simple rules: always pick the right music, keep an eye on the time, never give out his real name, and most importantly, make no personal connections with anyone on the job.
Making no personal connections with anyone new is easy when he has difficulty talking in his own words.
Enter Cas, who, in order to pay for his nephew Jack’s life-saving medical treatment, decides to break bad by joining Crowley’s operations. Unlike most of his brothers, he’s new to the world of crime, but their driver’s skills and quiet demeanor have a way of reassuring him.
Throughout the course of several months, their rules fall to the wayside as they fall for each other, each unable to say the words ‘I love you’ for differing reasons.
Cas’ past family life complicates things when Lucifer comes around wanting to know how Cas is getting the money to pay for Jack’s treatment. Everything comes to a head when Dean is kidnapped for one final job.

Summary
Just west of the town Porthgwarra, Cornwall, Robert Singer’s farm lies, a mess of ravaged land gaping out onto a fretting sea. Robert's orphaned godson, Dean Winchester, is named sole beneficiary of the farm - and though he hasn't seen his godfather in fifteen years, he travels across the Atlantic with his brother and half brother to care for Singer in his old age and tend to the farm. All of them hope to leave behind the squalor and famine of their old life.

literally perfect and beautiful and the perfect reread! plot and tension and conflict was so good; everything fit so well even tho it’s an au, the characters were incorporated perfectly. the writing is so flowery and pretty and still digestible and very tender and sweet and just lovely! & very satisfying ending- tho i didn’t expect the historian’s perspective!

“As if,” Atsushi snapped, and Akutagawa began to regret making that no-killing deal. “I bet you don’t even know the first thing about wooing someone.”
“Of course I do,” he retorted, because there was no way he was backing down now. Let alone admitting that the weretiger, of all people, was right about his inexperience.
“Prove it, then.”
Or, five times Akutagawa tries to prove that he’s the better protégé, and the one time he realizes Dazai's acknowledgment might just be an excuse.

Dazai-san doesn't bother to text him this time. The weretiger just. Appears. On his doorstep.
"What," Akutagawa says, less flatly than he'd like. He'd been in the middle of having breakfast when the doorbell rung, and since basically no one rings the thing—all candidates either barge in or don't need to—he had been entirely prepared to ignore it. Except.
"Uh," says Nakajima Atsushi, cringing.
Akutagawa shuts the door with Rashomon on principle.
Three seconds later, his phone is ringing. Again. Akutagawa is tempted to take a page out of Dazai's book and start chucking all of his devices into the sea.
A collection of moments in the lives of SSKK, after a different six months, in a kinder world. (or: the one where they learn to work with each other, argue ethics, have difficult conversations over people's graves, deal with trauma, and get banned from starbucks. maybe not precisely in that order.)

“And I hope you know that you’re paying for that," Atsushi added bitterly.
“I said I would, didn’t I, darling?” If it was a joke, then Atsushi didn’t catch the punchline. His mouth went dry, and his heartbeat sped up. He was learning more and more about Akutagawa by the day; more and more things that would make fighting him impossible.
He now knew how Akutagawa felt breathing steadily in his arms, and what he looked like while he slept, and what his laundry detergent smelled like, and what his skin felt like, and what his voice sounded like when the sardonic edge was taken off of it.
They didn’t feel like enemies, anymore—not really.
OR
Akutagawa shows up bloodied and beaten to the apartment of his sworn enemy, and things just aren't the same after.

Horror formed in the pit of Dazai's stomach as he watched Atsushi’s hands transform into claws. He watched as those claws started dragging bloody caverns down the hollows of Atsushi’s throat.
Still, Atsushi was screaming, even as Dazai ran forward. The boy had flinched at his touch but now Dazai had no choice, trying his best to ignore the painful twist in his chest at Atsushi’s pleading cries to please please, don’t touch me. Don’t touch me. Don’t touch- as he slapped his hands around Atsushi’s claws, activating No Longer Human without a second's delay.

“You’re-” Atushi faltered, “You’re Dazai Osamu, leader of the Port Mafia. You’re my boss,” there was another pause, “And you’re supposed to be dead.”

Atsushi opens his eyes; Akutagawa is glaring at him across the alley, and irritation coils hot in Atsushi’s gut.
“Yeah, well some of us actually expend energy during a fight, rather than just standing in one place and letting our fancy Ability do all the work.”
“Of course you’d see it that way; your understanding of Special Abilities is so painfully rudimentary,” Akutagawa scoffs, but there’s the barest tremble beneath his words, and when Atsushi shoves another bite of onigiri into his mouth, Akutagawa’s eyes track its movements perfectly.
So that’s what this is about, Atsushi thinks, his anger dissipating as quickly as it came. What an idiot. You know you can just say that you’re hungry, right?

Reki’s left arm was the arm he always braced with when he fell. It was the one that, by extension, got injured the most.
Maybe he’d been fooled by naivety, by the vague idea that he’d be fresh and able-bodied forever, but limbs weren’t meant to be sprained or fractured or broken as often as his left arm was. Each trip to the hospital, he was tempting fate more and more. Really, he should’ve seen it coming:
Nerve damage.
There was a constant, never-ending ache in his arm. A dull throbbing that he eventually learned was easy enough to ignore (except, of course, when it burned like the fucking sun and he couldn’t sleep and he just curled up in his bed wishing for anything to make it stop-). It was always there, but always ignorable. He was good at ignoring his problems.

Reki's repeated injuries have left him with chronic pain. He likes to think he deals with it pretty well. It's not a big deal; no one has to know.
