Once he knew where to find the shiny new birdy if he wanted, Jason figured he could leave his replacement alone. He had bigger birds to fry right now (flightless arctic ones, in specific). But the last few times Jason had caught sight of Batman and Robin out on patrol, the cuckoo bird had seemed… off. Subdued, less likely to poke fun at the baddies, and almost silent when it was just him and Bruce alone.
Jason had decided to swing by the Drakes’ neighborhood in Old Gotham to see if he could get an idea of what was up—not because he was worried about the Walmart-brand Robin, alright? He was just… assessing the enemy. Gathering intel.

“Okay. And what’s your full name, sweetheart?” He says with complete calm as the others stare at him in relief (goon), suspicion (working girls), ignorance (cat), and ambivalent amusement (Cass).
“Pen-el-o-pee Catherine Dana Drake,” she says with the confidence of a four year old who practiced with all her heart.
Tim blinks. Cass blinks. The other’s blink as they double take and finally notice who Tim and Cass are.
Tim nods like that makes sense, before looking up, “Yes. So, you said you found Penny here after she fell from a portal?” He raises his eyebrows.

Song Taewon is used to waking up to the shrieking sound of his alarm blaring at him to get up and go to work. He’s even used to waking up to his phone ringing from an urgent call telling him he’s needed immediately even though it’s three in the morning and he hasn’t had a decent night’s sleep in weeks. What he’s not used to is waking up naked and sore in a bed he doesn’t recognize to someone screeching in his ears. He likes to think that he’s pretty good at rolling with the punches, he has to be in order to survive doing what he does, but this might be stretching it a little.
He distinctly remembers going to sleep in his own bed last night, fully clothed, after finishing his latest batch of paperwork. Did someone move him here while he was asleep? How? He’s not a heavy sleeper, no S-class is with their enhanced senses, so how could somebody have moved him all the way to wherever here is? It starts as a joke on Instagram, a tourist in New York posts a picture with the caption: Was going through my vacation photos and saw this. No big deal. It's just the ghost of Bucky Barnes.
By the end of the day the image has gone viral: a young man with short brown hair walking down the street in a grey pea coat, hands in his pockets as he glances back just in time to be caught in the photo. The moment Steve sees it, he knows it’s Bucky. He doesn't care what his friends tell him. He knows it's not just some lookalike, and it's sure as hell not a ghost.
(Or; the Winter Soldier does not kill Howard Stark and his wife in 1991, and escapes from Hydra with Howard's help. But fate still has every intention of getting Steve and Bucky back within the same time and place)

A fourth person, one immediately recognizable, is pictured on the final page. The last person is not facing the camera, instead they are intently staring at the blue of a computer screen.
It is Jason's own head of black hair framed by the narrow lines of bookshelves, turned away and unaware.
"A big one, can't emphasize that enough. You need to pick me up, now."
Little handwriting, the kind that is halfway to cursive, lines the bottom of the photograph, and it's written in blue ink- maybe from a ballpoint pen.
