Will this Leo from the future successfully save his family from a fate most terrible, or will history repeat itself?

It’s not real, of course, the disembodied voice had assured them. It was all a simulation. A game, if you will. But they were stuck until they played it, whether they liked it or not.
Unfortunately, though, the brothers aren’t on the same page on how to deal with this situation.
And real or not, the pain certainly is, and Mikey doesn’t want to die either way.

Summary
What was it people said? There’s beauty in tragedy?
Mikey had never really got it. He liked happy endings. He liked stories to end pretty, with a bow on top and a funny end credits blooper reel. He liked bright colors and the chaos of happiness, of living wild and unafraid. He’d always thought tragedy was a cop-out for people who were too scared to dream big, too scared to dig in and really love life.
But Mikey could kind of see it now, if he squinted just right. Could kind of get it. There really was something beautiful about it all. The rubble and the smudges of smoke across the sky, like smears of charcoal. The fires burning like neon orange highlighter in a world gone gray. The way a last ditch effort could feel like a dance, set to the tripping rhythm of a fear fast heartbeat.
It was all raw expression, raw emotion. It felt like a soul stripped bare and screaming in rage-denial-determination. Burning as hot as it possibly could so, even if it burned out, it would leave a mark behind.
Yeah, he thought. He got it now.
When you knew you’d never see it again, even a world burning to the ground could be beautiful.

“Michelangelo?”
Mikey’s head snaps up like a rubber band, so fast it hurts his neck. His father is standing in the doorway, whole and unharmed and strong. He tilts his head, taking in the probably dumb way Mikey is just standing there staring up at him.
He’s alive. In this moment, in this memory, he’s alive. But just a minute ago he was dying, he was choking on blood and then he was gone, and no matter how many times Mikey cried for him he didn’t come back.
Mikey’s chest feels like it’s closing around all his squishy insides like a fist. It’s really hard to breathe in a way that isn’t just desperate gulping gasps for air, so he holds his breath. It’s a good and useful thing that aquatic turtles can do it for a long time.
“I thought you and your brothers had left already,” the rat says mildly.
“We did? I mean, uh, yeah, we did,” Mikey says. He watches Splinter’s expression tighten in tiny inscrutable ways, and knows he didn’t do a very good job of sounding normal. So he clears his throat and finds a lopsided smile and tries again. “I just had to come back for something.”

With a shuddering breath, Mikey pulled his sleeves away, revealing his shaking hands and the mystic scars. They were glowing a tiny bit, and they didn't look as bad. They were healing... finally.
The glow wasn't as bad, thankfully. But they shook. That was a given after a nightmare.
"Nightmares that got worse…" Doctor Feelings chided in worriedly. "You know they'll just keep getting worse if you don't talk with your brothers. You need a healthy way to process your feelings."
As he reached down, he could vaguely hear Doctor Delicate Touch yell at him, something about how this isn't a healthy coping mechanism, while Doctor Feelings gently reminded him he had three brothers he could rely on. He ignored both voices again, and pressed down a painful scar hard, hoping for the relief of physical pain over the emotional one.
It didn't hurt.
Mikey looked at his arm in surprise.
Or
Instead of listening to his own advise and going to his brothers, Michelangelo decided that hurting the mystic scars as a reminder that everything is okay would be better instead.

It is then, as his eyes travel to follow Michelangelo, that Leo spots the way the water is dripping thicker now, seeping through the concrete of the ceiling. There are signs he has carelessly neglected – the cracking on the stone, the groaning of pipes around them. His cheerful mood snaps.
Something must reflect this in his expression; Mikey pauses, a few feet ahead of him, face twisting to concern.
“Leo –“ he begins, but is interrupted when everything shudders. Rubble drizzles, then throws itself upon them as the roof collapses under the strain of the water pipes.
For a moment, Leonardo’s eyes meet his youngest brother’s and see the terror flash inside them. He barely has time to take another breath before the world caves in, and everything goes black.~
While the brothers are out exploring a new sewer system, the whole thing collapses. With no way to get out and separated from each other, they all face their own struggles, injuries and fears as they fight to survive and find each other.
TLDR: a sewer caves in. Leonardo and his brothers are trapped because I like angst.

He leaves the lair, only to find a stray cat left for dead. And suddenly, he isn’t alone anymore.But he is still breaking, slowly.
