Summary

Meanwhile, Stede wants to learn how to be gay, Ed has a crisis over men in skirts, and Izzy learns friendship from his homophobic dog. Chaos ensues.

The pay isn’t enough to make the servitude worth it, the back-breaking work and the harsh punishments breeding resentment among the crew and creating a near constant cloud of heightened anxiety, fear, worry, anger, hatred… The hormones are so thick, they feel glued to the ship, the wind not strong enough to make them spill over the side.
It shouldn’t be a surprise when Ed’s first rut hits at sea, triggered either by age or the sheer force of everyone’s scent—and perhaps it isn’t. He hasn’t thought about it, really, throughout his life, too preoccupied with survival to worry about puberty and whether he’ll turn out to be one of those, but now that it’s happening, Ed can’t help but feel pretty fucking stupid for not considering the possibility.

Summary
