Fuck, Izzy couldn't fight a small grin at that. Was it the alcohol, or was Stede actually starting to seem—less irritating?

Bonnet spins around again. The coat follows, swishing. It's not bad to look at, Izzy supposes, but it's fabric and if the crew wants an answer, there is a simple, easy solution to all of this.
"Take off the fucking suit," Izzy tells him.
"I don't want to."
"Take it off."
"No," says Bonnet, neatly. "Fuck you."
Izzy convinces Stede to get rid of the cursed suit. (Spoilers for 2x05: The Curse of the Seafaring Life)

Summary
Ed is still trying to call him. He knows because he can hear the phone buzzing in the drawer he shoved it into when he got here. It’s either Ed or one of the boys calling for Ed. It’s all the same, anyway. No one’s calling for Izzy Hands, so the blasted thing may as well stay where it is—and it does. It stays there until the battery dies and it turns into a useless ornament, a reminder of something he should have left behind far sooner. It stays there for weeks, in fact, while he goes out to get a new phone and a new number and does his very best not to think and wonder about how many missed calls and messages are waiting in the past.

After twenty years with Ed, Izzy finally leaves to save them both, but of course, they're them. Nothing's ever truly over.

He wavers for a moment and then downs the rest of his drink. “Izzy,” he says conversationally, even as the drink is making his eyes water. He rises, brushes some lint off the sleeve of his shirt. “I’ll be in the bathroom. Were you to ah—follow me, I’ll be happy to uh—” Stede’s confidence deflates, and he’s left awkwardly hovering at the table while Izzy’s staring at him.
For a moment he considers just bolting, but then a peculiar expression spreads on Izzy’s face.

“No way I’m missing that,” Jack said over drinks and slung an arm around Izzy’s neck to stop him from bolting.
“Absolutely fucking not,” said Izzy through squeezed lungs and found himself trapped in a car with the three of them two days later anyway.

Summary
It's easy with Ed, the push and pull of their spats that boil over and simmer down in quick, simple actions, with imperfect but well-learned understandings. With Stede it's – well, they're not even fighting, are they? It’s nothing. It's nothing, but somehow it keeps getting tangled in things and dragging them into an unseen eddy. Izzy can feel the pull of the water but his eyes burn if he tries to look into the centre.
Izzy, Ed and Stede are still figuring out what being in a relationship with each other means. There's a lot of history. Some things are impossible to talk about.
