Summary
Izzy works hundred hour weeks, wakes at dawn and sometimes before, has four different monitors aside from his laptop at work and at home each to keep everything neat and separated and so he can work from either place, subsists on five coffees a day - black with two extra shots at 7 am and 2 pm and with one cream the other three times, occasionally sleeps from his office’s pullout couch with the blanket he has stashed there to save himself a commute, and is probably single handedly responsible for keeping the bodega around the corner afloat with how much of their ready-made food he eats.

Israel Hands has been Lead Engineer for Blackbeard Tech for a decade. Everything in his life is neatly regimented until Stede fucking Bonnet and his team get foisted on them and Izzy's fired.
He...definitely knows what to do with all this time he suddenly has. Obviously, he's going to...pick up a hobby, or something. That's a thing people do, right? Pick up hobbies?

A light dusting of freckles spatter over her long nose, her skin tanned with a long day of working in the sun. “You rode her hard. I was watching.” She hangs the tack on each piece’s designated hook on the wall before taking after Venny with a brush. “I like that in a woman.”
Heat shoots through Stede’s cheeks so suddenly that she’s very thankful for the low light of the barn as the sun sets behind them.
“Yes, well,” Stede stammers. “Anything worth doing takes work.”

"This is unbelievably rude," said Bonnet.
Izzy and Stede are seized off the street, handcuffed together, and held for ransom. Together, they must figure out how to escape before they can be used as bait for Blackbeard's capture.

A sharp sting bursts through him. Ed gasps, lungs burning with relief, and his vision clears. Izzy—the real Izzy, the living Izzy—steps in front of him, blocking Ed’s view of the corpse with his own shoulders. He keeps his left hand raised, clearly ready to slap Ed again.
“Are you with me, Edward? I need you to focus.”
“I killed you.”
“No, you stabbed me in my fucking sword arm, remember? That’s why I need you to be alert.” Ed looks down, where the knife is still embedded in Izzy’s bicep. He did do that. He hurt them both.
OR; the one where Edward has to murder his way through nine different Izzies to protect the one that matters.

Summary
“You didn’t have to wait up,” he says, just like he does every time he returns to the cabin after a late watch.
“We know,” Ed replies. “We wanted to.”
He hesitates, pipe poised at his lips. Izzy himself very much hopes to find someone awake when he finally slinks into the cabin on late or difficult nights. It’s harder to convince himself he’s not wanted when dark eyes crinkle and light up upon seeing him peek into the room.
“It’s nice to have something to look forward to,” Stede mutters, and god-damn him.
Bonnet was a testament to the brutality that accompanied vulnerability. The man was ruthless with his sentimentality, knowing exactly where to slide the dagger home for the most damage without even trying.
Smoke stutters from Izzy’s lungs. “Yeah,” he rasps. It’s the closest he’ll come to an admission tonight.

Izzy comes off a miserable late-night watch. A man used to surviving grapples with the opportunity to thrive.
