“Hello” she whispers down to him, like they're sharing a secret. He blinks, blue eyes staring back up at her.

She looks back up at her parents and they look so… happy. Happy but also sad. She doesn't know what they'd be sad about. They're probably just tired.

“What's his name?” She asks, still enraptured by her baby brother.

“We were thinking Gillion” Her dad says, exhausted but smiling.

“Hello Gillion” she says to him, to Gillion. “I'm Edyn”

    Summary

Gillion hasn’t felt this safe in… he can’t remember how long. The frigid sting of steel is no match for Caspian’s kind touch and the screams of doubt and rage are nothing against his sweet musings. He could stay like this forever, he would stay like this forever if he had the chance, like jelly in a trusted friend’s arms.

He can’t think much but he knows one thing more true than any, he knows it in every part of his mind, every fiber of his being. Gillion doesn’t remember falling asleep, but he does remember…

    I love Caspian.

“Chip!” He let out one last time, this time more a wail than a yell as his knees buckled with the rocking of the deck.
“...Here.” Chip’s voice found him, weak and barely audible. But there nonetheless.
It came from below, and Gil looked down to see his co-captain dangling from the side of the hull, a small dagger jammed into the wood. He was completely drenched from head to toe, more than the rain could ever manage, and he was trembling violently.
But he was there, he was alive.
Gillion sighed. His chest filled with a lightness he was beginning to grow familiar with, but couldn’t quite name. As he stared at Chip, it festered inside him, and in the middle of the raging midnight storm, Gillion Tidestrider grinned like an idiot.

"Great," Chip deadpans. "I'm so excited for you to dump me out of my hammock again."

"If you had a bed, this wouldn't happen to you."

"Leave my hammock alone! Just because you can't handle what the usual sleeping conditions on a pirate ship are doesn't mean you need to take it out on me."

    "I'll throw you over board."

"Try me." Despite his words, he's not expecting Jay to really shove him backwards into the freezing cold water. "JAY!"

"You told me to try!" She shouts down, laughing.

"I didn't mean it!! Giiiillll help me," he shouts back, giving pleading eyes to their other captain.

Gill looks at Jay for confirmation. She's laughing so hard she has to hold on to the side.

    "Push her in!" Chip shouts.

"Okay!" Gill's tail wags as he throws her into the water. Jay shrieks, landing with a loud splash.

He would say that he had been doing an excellent job keeping Aldrick away from his friends so far. He had smashed his sled into Aldrick enough times to know the lion had felt it. He knew that he was a threat now. As long as Troy could keep the attention on himself, things would be okay.
But in this moment, the only thing Troy could feel was frigid fear. As Aldrick's boot slams into his chest, all of the air rushes out of his lungs. He feels his ribs creak in protest from the pressure as his attacker leans his weight in farther.

Gillion’s sword trembled in his hands as he rose to his feet, standing over the sleeping soldier. His fins pinned back against his body, making him seem so much smaller than he actually was. He couldn’t do it. He couldn’t do it. This was someone that Gillion didn’t even know.

But he had been given an order. He was told that these were bad people and that they had plans to take out the undersea. That’s what he had been told. The elders were very clear with their instructions when they had given them to Gillion. He didn’t want to fail them again. He didn’t want to be punished. Not again.

"Poor Jack Frost, masquerading as a holy Guardian. For the children, you preach! For the sake of the world, you cry! Yet, truly, you're a hypocrite."

Jack jolted forward, his magic coming off him in waves. He zeroed in on Pitch, his frantic eyes locking onto his and refusing to look away.

"I'll kill you right fucking here Pitch."

The Boogeyman only smiled his creepy grin again. "Ah, there he is. Take that mask off, Jack Frost."

Fifty years after Pitch’s fall, something terrifying and ancient begins to stir within his shadows, and The Man in the Moon calls upon a new ally in response. As the Guardians gather once more, Jack finds himself haunted not only by Pitch’s return, but by the buried past he can't take back.

or, a Rise of the Guardians expansion where Pitch is much scarier, the stakes are higher, and more of the books' lore is incorporated.

He should have known not to sneak up on Gillion – not after a year of Gill jumping out of his skin on his best days and nearly biting off the hand of the offender on his worst. He certainly should have known better than to sneak up on him when everyone is as stressed as they are.

He made contact, grabbed Gill’s shoulder with a dramatic "Grah!" and-

He hadn’t even seen Gill move.

    Summary

Gillion Tidestrider, champion, hero, the chosen one spoken of in prophecies, felt like crying. He could see Chip and Jay across the deck, his two rays of sunshine talking to each other enthusiastically. He loved looking at them, everything about them had worked its way into his head in the most wonderful way possible.

The way Chip pauses while listening to close his eyes and soak up the sunshine.

The way Jay reaches out to brush her hand against his every now and again.

The fond smile on both of their faces reserved for one another.

The way Chip leans towards people when he's really listening, when he really wants to understand what's being said.

The way Jay reaches her arms out to loop them around his neck and leans in to press their foreheads together, the way Chip blushes easily at her every move, the way they look and act around each other and value one another endlessly. The way they love. They are in love.

    Gillion turned away.

With a shaky exhale, they try to calm down. They let themselves relax. He feels a stinging pain in his arms, and he looks down to see his talons dug into his skin painfully. Immediately, he pulls his hands away from his arms. Greenish blood stains his talons. It's nothing like human blood. Triton blood doesn’t mix with water. It sticks to his fingers uncomfortably.

He sighs, letting his tail coil around his leg, for some kind of comfort. Gillion pushes the lid of his barrel off, disturbing Pretzel, who lets out a mrrrp in disapproval. He slips out easily, setting Pretzel in her bowl to the side.

That didn't stop him from anxiously wondering why. He couldn't stop thinking about Edyn, what she might have said to that Navy officer. What the officer had said to her. Why she couldn't tell him any of it, or what they were doing to keep her so constantly terrified. He also kept thinking of something far far stupider, way less important, and certainly nowhere near what he should be focusing on.

How he'd sworn that if he won the duel, Chip could never date his sister. And how he had won. And how knowing that was on the line he had fought so much harder.
