All he needs is Mom’s encouragement to try again, and this time— well, after a few more times— his eyes are open. Everything around him is blurry, but it’s coming back.
He finds Mom first. She’s right by the edge of the bed, still holding his hand as she smiles down at him. Tears are falling down her cheeks, but he guesses they’re at least happy ones now.There’s a man standing behind her with a hand over his mouth and the other supporting his elbow. His hair is a mess, and so are his eyes. He looks scared in a way Mom doesn’t.
Brown hair, brown eyes, lots of uneven facial hair— he maps this image of Dad in his mind. This is Dad. There’s no doubt in his mind.Or; after a hard hit to the head, Peter wakes up almost a month later and can't remember a thing. He mistakenly confuses Tony and May for Mom and Dad.

When Tony and Peter were finally on the quinjet, Peter sluggishly looked around as Tony laid him down on a cot.
When Peter caught sight of Morgan, he finally let go. His body went slack, and the last thing his brain registered was everyone's hearts racing.

When four men ambush the lakehouse, it's up to Peter to protect his little sister. If there was a threat to her life, his only mission was to protect her, even if it cost him his life. She was his top priority.

Tony hugged Peter and smiled cheekily into the boy's hair. 'You know I’d do anything for you, right, kid?'
Peter snickered. 'No, Dad, you can’t murder Ross, as much as I know you want to.'"

To keep the kid somewhat aware and focused, Tony, with the hand securing Peter's back, taps him purposefully. Between each cryptic word, he would pat the kid’s back with his whole hand to indicate he was starting a new word. He keeps tapping the same sentence over and over as they get closer to the medbay.

“'Peter?' A face appears in front of him, blurry and red, and Peter is pretty sure he knows that face, in fact he’s sure he does, because somewhere he knows it makes him feel warm and happy. The face is not happy, though, and that makes Peter sad and scared, and before he can stop it a hiccup and sob rises in his chest and it hurts.
'Wha--?' Peter’s voice is garbled and muffled in his ears, fire burning down every one of his nerve endings, and the face in front of him downright crumples.
'Shhh, shh,' something sparkles and fades away on the figure in front of him, and something warm comes up to hold his face, and it’s only then Peter realizes his cheeks are sticky and wet. 'It’s alright, it’s alright, baby, I’m gonna fix it, just keep breathing, that’s it, I’m gonna fix it--'"

Without thinking, he returned the hug and instinctively brought one hand up to the back of the kid’s head, which was resting on his shoulder.”

He jerks back to himself to find Peter pressed into his side, their fingers laced together.
He is drumming, over and over into Tony’s other palm. 'COME BACK. COME BACK.'

Peter felt his cheeks warm slightly in embarrassment, but he felt the rest of his body go warm with the concern and affection he saw in Tony’s eyes. He nodded."
