They don’t know that he died ordering one son to kill the other, that he died with a gun in his mouth and a foot to the stomach and his oldest child telling him that he loves him. And hates him. And hates him. And loves him.
And that the killer had had tear tracks cutting through the blood and grime on his cheeks, spider-webbing while he shoveled and cried, and that it had been the hottest October on record, ever. As if Hell was rising, cracking up through the asphalt, dream-like. And he couldn’t dig deep enough to put his father there.

it's 1996, it's the arizona desert and it's hot. The Winchesters are leaving town tomorrow, and everyone in this shitty motel knows about it. Dean shares cigarettes that aren't his, Sam shares some secrets that aren't his either. John doesn't share his whisky. Overall, they've probably all had better nights.

Summary
Fleeing from the closing net of the FBI, Hannibal Lecter finds his chosen retreat borders the territory of a vicious new serial killer preying on Oxford University professors. As he nurses Will and himself back to health, Hannibal works to help Will come to terms with the new layer of intimacy in their relationship and to negotiate Will's compulsion to deliver justice without putting them at risk for discovery.
He can't recall the fall, or which of them broke the choppy waves first, but he can remember Will's hand on the back of his neck, hot as a brand in contrast with the icy water that swallows them. The ocean has a hungry, cold vastness that unsettles even Hannibal, washing them against the rocks like flotsam – and with as little regard for their autonomy.

Summary
Yeonjun watches the interaction from the side of the room, beleaguered by the warm and inviting atmosphere around him. Yeonjun is one of those people who feels embarrassed by the way their parents love them, as if care loses value when it’s too freely given. Yeonjun wants his life to be a fight; otherwise, it would be impossible for him to win. It’s just one of his quirks, if one of his more aggravating ones. No matter, because Beomgyu is an emotionally secure person who doesn’t mind losing every now and then for the sake of Yeonjun’s self-esteem.
Only now and then, though. Otherwise it would be too easy. That’s where Soobin’s mistake is, Beomgyu thinks. He just makes it all too easy.Or: In every way but name, Beomgyu is Yeonjun's boyfriend. He wishes he wasn't, sometimes.

“I did,” Yeonjun concedes. “It was nice to hear you say it, though.” Yeonjun is silent for a moment, thinking. “I should’ve asked Soobin, maybe.”
Beomgyu wants to be annoyed, but he’d just been thinking the same thing.
Beomgyu tries not to think about Soobin more than he has to, mostly because Yeonjun can smell it on him like a drug-seeking dog, and then instead of living in Beomgyu’s head, Soobin starts living in the conversation. Yeonjun loves talking about Soobin and hates talking to him. The version of Soobin in Yeonjun’s head is just more interesting than the real thing.
“C’mon, Gyu. You know you’re the man of my dreams.”
Beomgyu turns towards Yeonjun and very carefully doesn’t actually see him when he smiles and says.
“I know, baby.”
Yeonjun’s victory for the day. Another item off Beomgyu’s list.
The problem isn’t that Beomgyu loves Yeonjun too much. If he was in love with Yeonjun, he could just get over it. The problem is that Beomgyu is Yeonjun, in a thousand different ways. To let go of Yeonjun now would be like ripping out his core. It would be accepting defeat. It would be to say that all the years and tears and sleepless nights were all for nothing, because Yeonjun threw him away in the end like he throws everyone away, like he threw Taehyun away, and Chan and Wooyoung about about ten other people who he probably doesn't even remember, and like how Soobin is currently watching himself be slowly lowered into the garbage disposal, the countertop rattling in his peripheral vision. Being Yeonjun’s boyfriend is less a title and more like a job that has shitty pay and no benefits. Beomgyu can be Yeonjun’s boyfriend because he’s stopped expecting it to be fun.
That too, is one of Soobin’s mistakes. He keeps waiting for the fun part. He’s just so earnest. He looks so happy in those pictures, a happiness it’s hard for Beomgyu to understand, much less to feel for himself. Soobin would’ve invited Beomgyu to go home with him for break. Soobin would’ve bought the tickets without Beomgyu having to remind him. Soobin probably isn’t embarrassed about his easy life, or his mother, or himself, and he’s probably kind and considerate and easy to be around, but Beomgyu will never know, because Soobin hates them both and is getting tired of convincing himself that he doesn’t, and soon he’ll get sick of Yeonjun’s shit and leave and it’ll be like none of them ever knew him, and he’ll get to have a good life somewhere else, with friends who actually give a shit about him, and aren’t cowards, and who actually deserve him in all his crinkly-faced, pouty-lipped, golden-haired glory.
When Beomgyu leans down to kiss Yeonjun, he thinks about how it would’ve felt to have the rims of Soobin’s glasses pressed against his face. He wonders if Yeonjun is thinking the same thing.
FML. oh this toxic yaoi. it's actually insane how badly yeonjun and beomgyu need to break up. like, expeditiously. this could honestly be about a throuple with how much yeonjun and beomgyu both think about soobin, even if soobin hates them.

Too important to go greet Soobin at the door of the party he made Soobin show up to.Or: Yeonjun is not dating Soobin. This is obvious to anyone with eyes. Soobin still forgets sometimes.

Soobin would have to go to parties anyway, because his boyfriend is in a frat, and so Soobin has to go where he goes.
Scratch that. Yeonjun isn’t his boyfriend. He forgets that sometimes.
He wants to go home. He doesn’t know why he came in the first place.
Scratch that. He does know. He just wishes he didn’t.
He makes his way back to the landing, but there’s no empty spot on the couch. Beomgyu has filled his previous place, leaning into Yeonjun’s space, hands on his thighs. His eyes are fixed intently on Yeonjun’s face, pupils blown wide. Beomgyu always looks at Yeonjun like that, as if Yeonjun created the universe from a grain of sand right before his eyes. He has the right, though. He’s Yeonjun’s boyfriend, after all.
ugh this part will ALWAYS hit no matter how many times I reread this. FUCKKKKKKKKK
“He doesn’t mind,” Yeonjun says, at the same time Beomgyu says, “I don’t mind!”
But Soobin minds. It’s an ugly, crawling thing inside him, how much he minds.

oh come on. really. REALLY. THIS IS SO GOOD. there's so much history packed into such a short fic honestly the perfect amount when you think about it. which I am. I really like the idea of this kind of exes to lovers. beomkai already know each other so well, and yet they're different people when they meet again, like learning each other all over again AGH. idk what I'm saying. I really loved Kai and beomgyu in this. they're both messy and not quite well, but they're pretty self-aware about it and also on the road to healing. what more could you ask for anyway?

That all his running went down the drain because Neil happened to match with one was, in his personal opinion, even more absurd.

ACH absolutely insanely well done. sometimes you just need to inhale an 83k sentinel au and fall so deep into the universe that it physically hurts when you finish it. the world-building was incredible and so creative, and the fake science was written so well that it didn't feel fake at all. the characterization was flawless; i LOVED how kevin, neil, and andrew were all written, they were so biblically accurate i'm thrumming with adrenaline. my favorite chapter had to be when they settle down and have their version of a domestic life i'm always so soft for domesticity

“Kevin Day told me about you.” The corners of Neil’s mouth lift the barest degree. It should be an unassuming, polite smile. Should be.
Andrew isn’t convinced. He hums and leans back in his seat. “You know Kevin.”
“We go way back,” Neil explains. He’s not giving any signs that indicate he’s lying, but still. Kevin usually holds his liquor better than he holds his secrets but Andrew thought he knew everyone Kevin has known since Palmetto State and he’d remember if this guy had been in the Nest.
“He’s never mentioned you,” Andrew says.
“I rarely mention him,” Neil replies easily.

i'm literally UGHHHHHHH this was so cute i'm gnashing my teeth. only the second fantastic beasts fic i've ever read and i'm already obsessed with graves...what does that say about me.
And when Graves returned from his meeting, when he placed one hand on Newt's shoulder and Newt looked up at him, gaze softening, when Graves took his hand and dropped heedless of his audience to one knee - the office quieted. Graves said, very seriously, "Newt, it's me or the Niffler," and Newt pressed his lips together but couldn't repress his smile.
"You wouldn't really make me choose," he said, looking at Graves through his eyelashes, and plucked the ring box out of Graves's hand. "We'll have to have the ceremony soon if you don't want Theseus to crash it again."
"This weekend," Graves said, and then sent a pointed look around him. "Subordinates not invited."
"But what about friends?" Tina asked, tongue-in-cheek, and Newt smiled at her.

Summary
The first thing Percival Graves does after being released back into the world is buy a new wand. The Aurors recovered his ebony wand from Grindelwald but Graves can’t even look at it, let alone pick it up. He goes to Greymalkin’s the minute he’s let out of the hospital and tries half a dozen wands. Some spark, a few smoke, but only one really works. The wand that chooses him is raw aspen, whiter than bone and so rough that Graves gives himself a splinter conjuring up a storm of brilliant red birds.
Greymalkin eyes the wand distrustfully. “Eleven and a half inches,” he says, sounding sour. “With a dragon heartstring core. One of Ollivander’s. Shoddy work, if you ask me.”
The wand hums against his fingertips. Graves buys it, tucks it up under his sleeve, and keeps it there, splinters and all, until he manages to fall into a fitful sleep later that night.
The second thing Graves does is quit his job, because honestly.
The third thing Graves does is get jumped by Credence Barebone in an alley.

I never expected to find myself reading a fantastic beats and where to find them fic but here we are. I couldn't even remember who Percival graves was until like halfway through the fic but yk what the writing and storytelling was so good that that was a non-issue. this fic is so interesting!! I really enjoyed reading about the fae world and I thought everything was so well researched and plotted and just. you know a fic has incredible writing, stellar characters, and an intriguing plot when it features a ship i'd never ordinarily pick up and I still read it!! why is graves a dilf
