Summary
The day after Scar breaks up with Grian, the dead come back to life. Knowing that venturing out alone is a death sentence, the sudden onset of the apocalypse forces them to stick together despite the tensions between them. In the wreckage of the world, they're forced to survive side-by-side, coming to terms with the fact that—try as they might—there's no one they trust more than each other.
“Go!” Grian shouts as the monster charges, putting his whole force into the blow.
Scar watches, frozen stiff as Grian fights until blood and gore and viscera mark the creature up like a Pollock painting.
“What are you waiting for?!” Grian snaps when he finally notices that Scar is still standing there. He grips his weapon tight and attacks a final time, slamming the zombie down—good and dead—and standing panting over top of it, strained but victorious. He starts rushing from the scene, calling back for Scar over his shoulder. “Run!”
And in a way that’s as familiar to him as breathing, Scar chases after him.

“Alright.” Joel had been quiet since the mention of the watchers, and when he spoke now he sounded tired. “So, the Watchers took us all and dumped us on a random server with no clear way to leave, is that about right? And we have life game mechanisms in place.”
“Sounds about right.” Grian nodded wearily.
“Well, fine. All we need to do is be careful and not die, yeah? Seems simple enough. Just focus on staying safe, gearing up, and trying to get home. And the admins will surely be looking for us.”
Grian looked around at the birch clearing, then up at the sky, sun blazing overhead. “I mean, it sounds fine in theory… but these are the Watchers we’re talking about. Who knows why they sent us here. And surely they have some sort of trick up their sleeve.”OR,

“Grian,” Scar started. He caught his roommate’s wrist and stepped towards him. Grian froze. “You okay? We don’t have to do this tonight if you’re too tired.”
“No, no. It’s not that," Grian said quietly, tentatively raising his gaze to something above Scar. It was only then that the latter remembered their exact situation.
Mistletoe was hanging above his head, and now Scar was holding Grian in place underneath it too.
“Oh. Shoot.” His heart beat into his throat, voice shaking a bit as he tried to laugh. “The rules of Christmas seem to have bested us once more.”

Summary
Scar doesn’t know when he first thought the Dark was off. Call it strange, because he’s a creature of the sun, after all, but Scar has come to expect the darkness, with its familiar tendrils and cold, but not the lack of his Sun when he wakes up.
It would have been easy, then, for Scar to crush him, convert an act of devotion to broken feathers and twisted limbs. The thought doesn’t even occur to Scar, because they’re on Hermitcraft (right?) And they’re on Hermitcraft, there are no red names, and Scar doesn’t even know what red names are, because they’re on Hermitcraft. It’s a nice, self-fulfilling circle that ensures he doesn’t have to think too hard about anything.

Martyn had heard tales from other people in town about a strange crypt they’d discovered in the woods, not all too far from the swampy town of Orchidea. This certainly was a topic of interest, as most people within Orchidea and Meriport denied knowing anything of its existence. No, only those of them who had gathered to this land from far-flung places seemed to speak of it. ‘It has an…otherworldly, strange feel to it.’ One would say. ‘The monsters within keep returning anytime you go back. But so does the treasure…’ Another would comment. And well, Martyn could certainly handle some monsters if it meant more treasure.
As he gathered his things in preparation, he was interrupted by a knock at his opened door. Ren stood there, dressed for adventuring. “Martyn, before you say a word of objection, you cannot make me change my mind. “Scar’s approaching from the left, by the way,” Mumbo said, and Grian’s stomach flipped, crushed-glass nerves cutting into his insides. He’d been used to struggling to avoid Hawkeye, who popped up whenever Grian least wanted to see him and had always been stupidly hard to shake off, worse once they got to know each other’s patterns, but when it came to Scar– well, but of course Scar would be the same way–
“You can see him under the exit sign,” Mumbo elaborated, stiffening with concern as Grian stood up, “and oh, hang on, you are not actually leaving me. I thought you said whatever it is wasn’t a big deal!”
“It’s not,” Grian lied. He stood up and gathered his papers in their complementary folder, smooth and calm and definitely not fighting a lump in his throat.
