“Are you serious, Dean? Your djinn-dream started with you dying?” Sam asks incredulously from the passenger seat on the way back to the bunker.
“Well, technically it started with us going on a hunt,” Dean points out. He licks his lips, jaw clenching. “I mean, there was Heaven, too, and that was pretty cool.”
Sam stares at him. “Unbelievable,” he breathes, scrunching his face up in distaste. When Dean glares at him, he holds his hands up defensively and chuckles weakly. “Sorry, man, but that just sounds pretty lame.” He leans back and folds his arms. “It just…I dunno. Kinda sounds like something Chuck would cook up. Just you and me. No one else. I mean, really?” He scoffs, slumping.

“Our cycles are syncing,” his mission says from the other side of the exam room, quiet and apologetic. He’s standing against the wall and the asset is sitting on an exam table. They’re in . . . a tower. The asset isn’t sure why. He doesn’t feel right, overheated and over-energized, and isn’t sure about that either.
“So you’re--my alpha, then,” he says haltingly, eyes flicking up to his mission’s face. Not his mission anymore. But always his mission, he thinks.
“Other way around,” his mission answers with a smile that all of the asset’s training can’t decipher the full meaning behind. It looks injured, and . . . and things the asset doesn’t know.

Summary
There was supposed to be more. That's the final thought to race through Steve's head before the last incursion starts.
...and then there is. Steve wakes up on Battleworld with a person who is Natasha Stark from Earth-3490 by day, and his very own messed up Tony Stark at night. And while he'd still love to settle things with Stark, he has more pressing problems. Doom's enforcers are hunting them and the stolen relic they're carrying -- which may be the only way to split Tony and Natasha before one erases the other.
Though it may just be borrowed time, because then there's the earthquakes and other odd phenomenon that have been reported world wide to worry about too.
